New England Paving

New England Paving is an asphalt contractor working out of 30 Shirking Rd in Epping, New Hampshire, with a second address in Seabrook. It paves driveways, parking lots, subdivisions and roadways, and also does milling, reclamation, sealcoating and line striping — a bigger, more commercial operation than most driveway firms. The business dates to 1994 and was incorporated as an LLC in 2009 under the alternate name Joe & Sam Patterson Partnership LLC; the BBB lists Sam, Joe and Kathy Patterson as its members and has accredited it since 2012 with an A grade, noting two complaints on file. Owner Sam Patterson turns up by name in review after review, usually on site. When the work goes well it goes very well, and reviewers say so in detail. A 2018 customer wrote a blow-by-blow of a full tear-out and repave finished in under a day, with drainage slants and beveled edges. A 2023 reviewer with paving experience of his own praised the foreman and crew and how little the neighbourhood was disrupted. Repeat customers, quick quotes and competitive pricing come up constantly, and a New Hampshire redditor said in 2026 that of ten contractors who quoted, this one gave the best quote and seemed most knowledgeable. The complaints follow a consistent shape, and it is not usually about the paving: it is about what happens when something goes wrong. A 2026 Google reviewer said a truck damaged their mailbox and four months of messages produced no repayment. A 2025 Angi reviewer said the crew damaged outdoor HVAC condensers, that six months of chasing produced nothing, and that the finished driveway came out a foot narrower on each side. A 2021 reviewer whose driveway developed major water pooling said they spent months trying to get the company back. A 2020 Angi reviewer described a lopsided driveway and no reply after the cheque cleared, and a 2014 reviewer said a request to look at a torn-up lawn went unanswered. A 2016 one-star alleges a field-levelling job quoted at $20,000–$40,000 ended at $75,000 unfinished — a single, dated and disputed account, but the strongest allegation on file. The two platform averages disagree in a way worth knowing about: Google shows 4.7 from 70 ratings while Angi shows 4.1 from 23, with 74% five-star and 17% one-star — the split record, not the headline, is the thing to read. New Hampshire does not register home-improvement contractors, so there is no such licence to check.
