Miguel shows up. On an April 2026 project the owner of Orion Design & Landscape was at the site daily with design ideas; on a July 2026 patio his team spent weeks working through materials and layout before anyone dug; and in January 2023 an Acton homeowner who flagged down the crew working down the street had him walking her yard shortly after, with the job built through December and January. Orion works out of Leominster and is built around hardscaping — patios, walkways, retaining walls, fire pits and outdoor kitchens — with landscape design, renovation and ongoing maintenance alongside it. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #199821, is active on the state registry in the company's name, and the Better Business Bureau has it at an A+, accredited since December 2021. A July 2026 backyard was regraded with a retaining wall, a patio, a walkway and a 12-by-12 raised bed filled with compost and manure. A Brookline customer, back for a second project in November 2025, got a retaining wall and a herringbone brick patio at the back entrance. In July 2025 someone with three quotes for replacing wooden front steps with granite gave Orion the job and had the crew start within five days. A stone retaining wall built in June 2025 passed its first inspection. The work is not all stone, either: a January 2026 job rebuilt a driveway retaining wall, repaired several foundation cracks and skim-coated a basement wall, and an April 2026 customer had the front yard seeded, mulched and edged and the bushes cut back, with no up-sell attached. Two accounts deserve a direct question before you sign. In August 2024 a customer edited a review down to one star: a wall that had cracked in many places after a year, an assurance someone would come out that week, and months of silence afterwards. A repeat client's review, first posted in April 2025 and updated in July 2026, says a second job brought delay after delay, construction errors, a lack of oversight and poor communication from the foreman and the office. A July 2026 reviewer gave four stars — the pathway work gorgeous, the crew hard-working and timely, but with early missteps about when the job would start. Ask what the warranty covers, who you call once the crew has left, and how quickly someone comes back. For a patio, a walkway, granite steps or a wall that has to hold a slope, this is a hardscaping outfit with the owner on the job and a long run of finished projects behind it. Get the start date and the callback process in writing, and hold the final payment until you have seen the work come through a freeze-and-thaw season.
“This month, we’re showcasing a remarkable retaining wall by Orion Landscape Design in Lunenberg, MA. Their recent project is a testament to their skill and creativity, as well as the versatility of our premium materials.”
Overall this was a good stone work contractor. The resulting pathway work I gorgeous and well done. The crew was hard working and timely. I drop to 4 stars as a result of some early communication mis-steps around starting the work but I would not call it excessive and was perhaps a one off with myself.
We hired Miguel and team at Orion Landscaping to do a major backyard renovation - grading, retaining wall around an area for planting, patio installation, walkway to a graded garden with installation of a 12' x 12' x 2' raised bed, and filling of the raised bed with compost, manure and mulch. Throughout the project, Miguel and Emerson were in constant contact and accessible, while the team did fantastic work and were respectful of the property the entire time. Orion was recommended to us by a neighbor whose yard we were admiring, and we would highly recommend Orion further to anyone without hesitation. These folks are professionals that clearly stand by their work and we hope to have another project for them in the future.
What a breath of fresh air. Orion landscape spent weeks planning out my project, reviewing different materials and designs and ensuring my patio was exactly what I wanted. They had a crew of guys at my house working around the clock to get it done. The guys on site were very friendly and clearly highly experienced. The salesman Emerson was very thorough in laying out the project and very easy to work with. Anna in the office quickly responded in detail to every question or request I had. The owner, Miguel, made frequent visits to my house to review the project, speak with me and make any necessary changes to ensure the patio was being constructed exactly how I wanted. He told me he likes to approach a customer’s project like he is working on his own house and that was absolutely the treatment I received. These guys do not cut any corners and go above and beyond to make sure you are fully satisfied. Anyone can slap down pavers and make a patio look decent when it is first installed. The prep work and everything under the patio you can’t see is what ultimately dictates if the patio will last. These guys do it right. They won’t be the cheapest option but their pricing is very reasonable for top tier work. I wouldn’t consider hiring anyone else for any hardscaping or landscaping projects in the future.
Orion was great to work with! Miguel, Emerson, and Anna were all very responsive to any questions we had as well as any changes to the project along the way. We enjoyed working with them and the finished project!
I've done many projects over the years and our work with Orion was by far the best experience we've had working with a contractor. Miguel and Emerson were fantastic throughout the project from multiple site visits to plan to daily check-ins to ensure the work was done to our satisfaction. The final work was better than what we dreamed up at the start. I would highly recommend contracting Orion for any landscape project.
