P Stones Contracting is a mason. Nearly all of its 159 permits are brick: repointing Boston brownstones and row houses, cutting out failed mortar, patching window sills and lintels to match the original profile, rebuilding front steps that have given way. Patrick Stones runs it from 156 Hayward St in Braintree. The jobs are large, and they cluster on water. A 2023 permit covered repointing an entire building at 25 Melrose St in Boston after major leaks through all the brick and brownstone — $162,500. In 2024 the rear of 232 W Newton St was cut and repointed with the front spot-pointed, at $158,000. A leaking front at 24 Euston St in Brookline was repointed on an emergency permit in 2023 for $64,000. Smaller work runs the same line: sills and lintels patched to match existing profile at 514 Massachusetts Ave in 2021 and 31 E Concord St in 2023, a failed brick basement floor pulled out and re-poured on Mt Vernon St in 2020. Twenty-three of the permits are from the past three years, typical value around $41,000. The written history is a single account, and it is dated. In an April 2015 review, a customer described exterior brick and mortar steps and a walkway removed and replaced, and said the quality and craftsmanship went past what they had expected. That one review is the whole of the published customer history, and it predates most of the brownstone work above by close to a decade. The BZ Score of 108 and top-5% placement BuildZoom prints come from permits and licence status rather than from anyone who hired the company. BuildZoom lists a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, 144922, as active on its March 2026 check — the directory's claim, not something confirmed against the state registry here. If you own a brick or brownstone building with mortar failing and water coming through, this is the kind of contractor that work goes to: repointing at building scale, not a windows or siding outfit. Ask for references from the recent Boston jobs, since the one written account on file is from 2015.

We contracted P. Stones Masonry at our residence to remove and replace our exterior existing brick and mortar steps/walkway. The quality and craftsmanship surpassed our expectations, and we are thoroughly satisified with the outcome. Every detail from from the planning phase to the final walk though was professional and accommodating.
