Patriot Painting & Carpentry is a Swampscott-based painting and carpentry contractor with a mixed, and increasingly concerning, written record on Google. Of the six reviews on file, dating from 2022 to 2025, two describe good experiences and four describe real problems — three of them from the most recent three years. The two positive accounts, from 2022 and 2023, describe fast turnaround and solid work: one customer had a quote by Saturday and a finished new-construction room, including French doors, by Monday night; another described a full house painting and repair job as a great experience. The more recent reviews tell a different story. A 2023 review described paying over $1,000 to have trim on six windows sanded and stained, but said the crew sent one worker for less than two days who didn't sand enough before staining, leaving the finish worse than before. A 2024 review described a no-show on a scheduled bathroom painting job, followed by days of unanswered calls and texts before the company finally rescheduled. Two 2025 reviews describe unresolved problems: one said the company proceeded with a cold-weather deck railing repair against the customer's own advice and never followed up as promised; another accused the company of never completing paid-for wood replacement work and going unresponsive, with the reviewer saying they were pursuing the matter in court. Given how the recent pattern differs from the earlier one, anyone considering Patriot Painting & Carpentry should ask for recent references, get a detailed written scope of work and payment terms before any money changes hands, and confirm responsiveness expectations up front.
if I could zero star I would , its a scam he supposed to change the wood which we paid extra but never did when I called him he didn't answer I did send him the photos and didn't do anything unfortunately I saw the reviews after I'm taking the matter to court please DONT USE THIS BUSINESS
I hired Patriot Painting & Carpentry in December to repair and paint my rotting deck railing. Initially, I expressed concern that it was too cold for painting and suggested waiting until spring, but they assured me it would be fine and even promised to return in the spring for any necessary touch-ups. At first, the railing looked good, but after a few months, the paint began to bubble and peel. I reached out to Maricio, who had made the commitment to return, but I was completely ignored despite multiple attempts to contact him. I saw that my messages were read but never responded to, which was extremely frustrating. Not only was their service overpriced, but the quality of work did not justify the cost. Now, a year later, the railing is rotting again, meaning their "repair" was essentially useless. I feel completely taken advantage of and would not recommend Patriot Painting & Carpentry to anyone looking for reliable, quality work. Extremely disappointed.
Bad experience. We had a new master bath that needed walls, ceiling and trim painted. We were scheduled for a Monday, Monday came and went and no show. I texted and called them with no response. They finally texted back on Thursday and said they would be coming over on Friday. I bought the paint for the walls (and primer). When they came they said they wanted to use their primer. The bathroom cost $1000 and they charged $125 for their primer and trim paint. When I asked how those materials cost $125 they said the paint was $75 a piece. The Behr Marquee paint we bought was $40/gallon. We went back and forth and he couldn't explain why there's was $75/gallon. The work itself was sloppy too. I got to spend Sunday cleaning up the paint splatter and will have to redo some of the painting since they didn't let the first coat dry before applying the second coat.
Patriot Painting & Carpentry painted our house and made repairs. Great experience - highly recommended.
Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience. Paid over a thousand dollars to have the trim on 6 windows sanded and stained. They sent one man over for less than 2 days. He did not sand enough before staining and now it looks worse than before. We communicated that we were not happy with the result. They came to remove their equipment, leaving trash in the yard and cashed the check with no follow up. Now we must fix what was done.
