Penske Truck Rental in Braintree isn't a moving company in the usual sense - it's the place people go to rent the truck and do the move themselves. Penske's own site describes it as a national personal and commercial vehicle rental business, plus leasing and logistics, and the Braintree location is run by manager Andrew Vassil. The pattern across its review history is genuinely split. On Google, the location holds 4.1 stars from 99 ratings, and a recurring theme across several sources is praise for specific staff members - Antonio and Chris get named again and again for helpful service, including squeezing in a last-minute truck for someone in a bind. Look past Google, though, and the picture gets rougher: ConsumerAffairs shows 1.9 stars from 349 reviews and Trustpilot 1.8 from 48, with complaints centered on unclear fees, a booking confirmation that never came through, and truck sizes that weren't actually available on pickup day. One review also described a misaligned steering wheel and food left in the cab. Before booking, it's worth asking directly about total cost - fees beyond the daily rate come up repeatedly in complaints - and confirming your exact truck size is actually on the lot, not just reserved on paper. An independent comparison site credits Penske with a newer fleet, guaranteed reservations, and unlimited miles on one-way rentals, which is why it gets picked for longer, cross-country moves. This isn't the listing to pick if you want a crew to pack and carry your things - Penske rents the truck and equipment, and you (or labor arranged separately) handle the rest.

I needed a 12-foot truck at the last minute, and the Penske team in Braintree made it happen — they didn’t hesitate to help me out and bring a truck from another location. The staff was friendly and helpful, the rental process was quick, and the truck was in great condition and comfortable to drive. Really impressed with how accommodating they were!

The new multi step Verification process for the ID is ridiculous. Should just be able to hand over my ID and get it scanned and get it back not try multiple different times to scan it on my own phone to verify myself. This is you guys job to verify the identity of the customer renting the truck.
