Riddle Landscaping is Colby Riddle's own company, working lawns, cleanups, hardscapes and snow removal for homes, condo associations and HOAs across Boston, Newton, Milton, South Boston, Chestnut Hill and Brookline. The volume of repeat business tells its own story: reviewers describe using him for three years, several years, over a year, two years — the same names showing up across seasons rather than for a single job. What people keep coming back to is a mix of reliability and fair pricing, both attributed to Colby by name rather than to a generic crew. Reviewers from 2023 through 2026 describe him showing up when he says he will, communicating clearly about scheduling and pricing before starting, and quoting competitively against other estimates. The work itself ranges from weekly mowing and seasonal cleanups to bigger jobs — a 2026 review described a same-day project that included tree removal, new perennials, mulching, and lawn seeding; another from the same spring described an expanded patio, new sod, a new tree, and a walkway finished with what the reviewer called quick work and good communication. Snow removal gets called out specifically too: a March 2026 review described getting a car dug out during what the reviewer called the worst storm in a decade, and a South Boston condo association, in a January 2026 review, described years of dependable winter service through a storm that dropped close to two feet of snow. There is a real complaint worth knowing about before hiring, though. Two separate reviews — one from August 2025, one from June 2026 — described Colby damaging creeping-thyme plantings while aerating a lawn and not following through on a promised replanting; the 2025 reviewer also said their town's service was dropped without being told beforehand. Against dozens of positive accounts it's a minority experience, but it's specific and it repeats, so it's fair to ask directly about care around delicate plantings and how a mistake gets made right. For lawn care, cleanups, and small-to-midsize hardscape work anywhere in his service area, this is an owner-operated business with an unusually long list of multi-year customers behind it — just raise any delicate plantings up front and confirm the plan if a job runs across seasons.
The crew was is detail oriented and perfectly professional with an affable and good natured personae. The work and results were exactly and prospected and the clean up was thorough. I’ll use these guys again!
Our condo association had wonderful experience with Riddle Landscaping Services. We reached out late in the season for help with a small but densely grown in city property. Colby was incredibly helpful and communicative throughout the process, providing a service quote and scheduling options quickly and professionally, during a very busy time of year. Their team did a fantastic job of cleaning out leaves and weeds and laying down mulch. Our yard looks the best it has in years, and we will not hesitate to work with them again!
Colby was excellent to work with. Very communicative, affordable, and thorough with his work. He removed a tree, planted some new perennials, mulched all of our beds, and seeded our lawn all in one day! He came back a couple weeks later to check on things and help make sure the lawn was coming along at no extra cost! I highly recommend Riddle landscaping!
Colby and his team are fantastic!
Colby ruined my creeping thyme and admitted he did it but refused to fix it. Want your yard ruined, go with Colby
