River St Heating and Cooling is a small, Middleborough-based HVAC company run by owner Scott Beaupre, in business about ten years per its Better Business Bureau listing. Reviews on file are thin — four in total — and split sharply between two kinds of experiences. In a 2024 review, a longtime customer described the company as consistently prompt and helpful over several years of use, and in a 2022 review another customer singled out technician Dan Clark by name as knowledgeable, efficient, and someone who "just gets to work." Against that, a 2024 review described a furnace and AC system the company installed that has needed a repair call every summer since, with the unit blowing air but not actually cooling the house; a technician who came out early one year gave it "a clean bill of health," yet the cooling problem returned. A 2023 review described a scheduled appointment where the technician never showed up, with no explanation offered afterward. Google shows a broader 4.3-star average from 15 ratings, well above what these four written reviews alone would suggest — most of those ratings apparently carry no text. Given the specific, recent complaints about follow-through, it's worth asking directly about scheduling reliability and getting a firm diagnosis in writing before booking repeat AC service.

I have used River street for years now. They have always been friendly and prompt and helpful. They have saved the day many times and I am grateful!
River Street installed a new furnace for me a couple of years ago. Each year I have had to call them to fix the air conditioning at the beginning of the summer season since while the unit blows air, it does not cool the house. The unit is less than 3 years old and this has happened every year! To avoid being in an uncomfortably hot house for the first month of warm weather, I called them out early this year (April) to have a technician to take a look. The technician gave the unit a clean bill of health. Well today when it's going to be in the 80's the unit is not blowing sufficiently cool air. While I feel I have been patient with them, now I am going into a long weekend without adequate air conditioning and I cannot speak with any one and no one answered my email from yesterday to have ask that they come fix it. The people I have interacted with has been nice but I need a permanent solution.
I am deeply disappointed with the customer service provided by River St Heating company. My experience with them was marked by unprofessionalism and a complete lack of urgency. Firstly, I scheduled an appointment for a technician to come and inspect my heating system, but they failed to show up. There was no communication or explanation for their absence, leaving me waiting and wondering what had happened. This lack of respect for my time and inconvenience is unacceptable. When I reached out to inquire about the missed appointment, the customer service representatives displayed a complete lack of urgency. They seemed indifferent to the fact that their technician had not shown up and did not offer an apology. It was as if my issue was of no importance to them. After a phone call to the office, someone arrived. Furthermore, their communication throughout the entire process was poor. I had to constantly follow up and chase them for updates, as they did not proactively provide any information. This further added to the frustration and lack of trust in their ability to provide reliable service. Overall, the unprofessionalism and lack of urgency displayed by River St Heating company in handling my heating system issue is highly disappointing. Their failure to show up for the scheduled appointment and their indifference towards resolving the matter in a timely and efficient manner is unacceptable. I would caution anyone considering their services to think twice, as their customer service leaves much to be desired.
