A 2026 customer said Sandweiss Tree Service pruned an 80+ foot tree in a difficult yard area, called Al the arborist knowledgeable, and said it was more reasonably priced than its competitors. The company says it has been in business 39 years, and its website names a service area that includes Ansonia, Branford, Hamden, Milford and New Haven. A 2024 customer said Sandweiss removed a 150ft+ maple tree and that the crew, led by Ossy, left the site with no damage, using machines and special plastic panels that protect the lawn. A 2024 customer said the crew used an "Easy Lift" to reach the taller parts of a river birch they trimmed and left the area spotless. A 2024 customer said two workers took down a diseased arborvitae and accommodated which pieces of the trunk the customer wanted to save. A 2023 customer described a pruning job that took almost two days, with a three-man crew picking up the debris as each tree was pruned. A 2023 customer who said they had used the company for almost 20 years wrote that Al never tried to persuade them to have work done that would not benefit the trees and shrubs. A 2025 customer described slow, frustrating communication and poorly managed schedules over about a year and a half. That 2025 customer said part of an adjacent hedge was taken down to reach a large tree, that the company verbally promised to replace the shrub, and that it still had not been replaced after 9 months.
“Tree service: Sandweiss”
“I don’t if they are cheap but we use Sandweiss.”
“A photo tweeted by the Hamden Fire Department showed a truck owned by Sandweiss Tree Service of Hamden showed extensive front-end damage.”
Sandweiss were great to use for the tree pruning we needed. They were far more reasonably priced than their competitors. Al the arborist was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. They did a great job pruning an 80+ foot tree in a difficult yard area. Would highly recommend!
I hired Sandweiss for a handful of tree services after getting multiple quotes from other companies. Sandweiss is consistently less expensive than their competitors, and you get what you pay for. Based on about a year and a half of trying to work with them, communicating with them is extremely slow and frustrating. They are very bad at managing and communicating schedules. Last January they took down a very large tree in a very visible location in our yard. They had to take down part of an adjacent hedge to access the tree, which I understand, but they did discuss it with us ahead of time. After the fact, they told us verbally that they would replace the shrub. After 9 months and many, many attempts to follow up with them, they have not replaced the shrub.
Great customer service and actual tree knowledge!
Very happy with the service provided by Sandweiss Tree Service. Very professional at every level. My job had difficult accessibility and valued plantings under the large trees to be removed. The crew chief Ozzie listened respectfully and did a careful & skillful job. Overall I am impressed by the good ethics of this company. Highly recommend.
Sandweiss removed a 150ft+ maple tree for me in April. They were fabulous from start to finish. Their arborist, Al, was very knowledgeable and the women in the office were very helpful. The crew lead by Ossy was amazing and Ossy was top notch, so skilled, personable, and great at what he does!! The crew had great attention to detail, were highly skilled, and produced very high quality work. They were efficient, safe, and left the site with no damage. They have they right equipment for the job with machines that do not cause damage to the lawn/special plastic panels that protect the lawn and they care about the quality of their work. Very professional and skilled company with high tech equipment. I highly recommend them and thank them for a job well done!
