Star Cleaning is a Marlborough house- and office-cleaning outfit that says it has worked the MetroWest and Boston area since 2001, run by its owner, Celia. Its own site lists house cleaning, office cleaning, move-in/move-out jobs and deep cleans as the work it does, and that lines up with what shows up in its reviews. For years the pattern was consistency. A 2016 review said the search for a reliable recurring cleaner had "ended here"; a 2017 deep clean got singled out for covering light fixtures, the refrigerator and all 33 windows in the house — the kind of specific detail that separates a real account from a form-letter compliment. Another 2017 review noted the company is bonded and works with BBB. From 2016 through 2022, reviews across Thumbtack, Angi and HomeAdvisor run mostly positive, and the platforms currently show 4.3 to 4.5 stars across Google, Thumbtack, Angi and HomeAdvisor, on sample sizes from 27 to 75 ratings. What's worth asking about before booking: the two newest reviews on file, both from September 2025 on Google, are sharply negative — one describes a cleaning at a family member's house left "dirty and messy, as if no cleaning had been done at all," the other is a single word, "Bad." There's also a 2021 Angi review describing an unresolved dispute over cleaning quality and pricing the reviewer was still working out with the owner at the time of posting. This looks like a long-running, detail-oriented cleaner that's kept customers for years at a time — but the most recent word on the business is its worst, so it's worth confirming scope and quality expectations up front rather than assuming the older track record still holds.
