Sunscapes Landscaping is a family-run outfit out of Needham Heights, working residential and commercial properties, and the most recent word on them is a rough one. An August 2026 Google review, apparently from a condo or HOA community, describes hand-dumped fertilizer that burned the lawn last season, followed by this year's snow removal damaging the same turf and sidewalks after they'd already been repaired — a specific, work-related complaint, not a vague gripe. That sits oddly next to the company's longer history. Danny Albernaz runs the business — its own website and its Angi and HomeAdvisor listings describe it as family-owned, and those two directories both put its founding around 2004 and show a 4.9-star average across 11 reviews; the Better Business Bureau's separate page lists it as A+ rated with no complaints filed. Most of that written record predates 2018: a 2024 Google review credits Danny with steering a homeowner's plant choices after "taking care of the yard work ourselves for years"; a 2022 review calls the crew "professional and hard working"; and a 2018 Angi review specifically praised how carefully they packed snow at the end of a driveway, contrasting it with other companies that leave a mess. Further back, a 2009 review called Danny's bid on a PVC fence "more than fair" and said he tracked down a hard-to-match part, and a 2011 review — positive overall — noted that some of the discussed work was left undone. Google's own aggregate for the company, just 3.7 stars from three ratings, runs well below what Angi and HomeAdvisor show, and the sources don't even agree on how long Sunscapes has been around: BBB puts it at 13 years, Angi and HomeAdvisor at 22, Houzz at "more than 16." Before signing on for a fertilizing program or seasonal snow contract, it's worth asking directly about this year's community-property complaint and what's changed since. For a smaller residential design or hardscape job, the older reviews point to a responsive, fairly priced crew — just confirm current practices given how recent the complaint is.
Ongoing issue at our community. Professional pricing but amateur results. Last season they over fertilized by hand dumping and burnt all the grass. Then this year’s snow removal damaged the expensive repaired turf and sidewalks.
After taking care of the yard work ourselves for years, we finally decided it’s time to look for some help. Couldn’t recommend Danny and his team enough! Danny provided helpful advice on necessary plants, ensuring my ugly wall is covered :) yard always looks beautiful and vibrant. Not only is his team hardworking, but they also leave the yard impeccably clean after each visit. Additionally, their efficiency is remarkable—fast-working without sacrificing quality. Overall, a fantastic experience!
Dan and his crew are always professional and hard working- very happy with their work
They were great!! They left the driveway really clean without destroying anything. Most landscaping co's I hire for snow removal make a mess at the end of the driveway & I still have to go out & shovel to clean it up, it always collapses after they leave, but with Sunscapes they made sure to pack it properly & it was done really well!! Thank you :)
Danny is prompt and efficient. They did most of the work that was discussed, but left some undone. They did a nice job.
