Teed & Brown sells lawn treatment programs, and its Google profile carries 4.9 stars from 435 ratings. The company describes its work as science-driven treatments for homeowners, and its stated service area runs from Fairfield, Litchfield and Hartford to Rockland and Putnam. A recent customer who switched from Lawn Doctor this season said the lawn is thicker and greener, with crab grass and dandelions under better control, and called the service slightly more expensive but worth it. One recent customer with almost 3 acres of grass said the treatments are not cheap, and that the grass mostly stays green in summer heat even though most of the lawn has no irrigation. A recent customer said a large area damaged by a construction project was repaired with new soil, compost and seeding, and the entire area grew in. A recent reviewer noted advance notice before technicians arrive. Irrigation is part of the business too. A 2025 customer wrote that the company installed their irrigation system, repaired it and maintains it. A 2025 customer with sprinkler defects said Johnathon and Jorge fixed the issues and reset the computer. In a 2023 review, a customer described a first composting visit that included aerating and seeding, with edging of the driveway and flower beds. A recent customer who prepaid a year described a system activation that left zones not engaging, three billed visits, a valve replacement that disturbed wiring to other zones, and almost $1,000 in total cost. A 2023 customer said they spent $10,000–$15,000 on a sprinkler installation and repairs, reported ongoing problems, and said the company refused to come back after they held back $400 in service calls. In a 2022 Angi review, a customer said a crew came on a date they had asked to delay and kicked a rabbit nest, and they cancelled service. On Reddit in 2024, a commenter said the company is out of CT, services NY and top-dresses with compost. A Connecticut turf-industry competitor wrote on Reddit in 2024 to expect to pay big money for it. Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0670535, held by Teed & Brown Inc, as inactive due to non-renewal.
“Expect to pay big $ for Teed & Brown. I'm from Connecticut and they are a big competitor of mine in the turf industry.”
“Call Teed & Brown. They are out of CT but service NY and I know they to-dress w/ compost.”
“Working for Teed & Brown I'd expect that lawn to be pristine.”
“Teed & Brown started like many other lawn care companies: A truck and some equipment.”
Excellent service today from T&B, extra attention to some thinner ares of grass were addressed, fine job.
Always done carefully and not rushed. Thanks guys good work!
I switched our Lawn care for weed control and fertilization to Teed and Brown this season after years with Lawn Doctor. What a difference! Our lawn is significantly thicker, greener and our control of weeds, particularly crab grass and dandelions, has significantly improved. I am also impressed with their level of service and proactive communications. While slightly more expensive, Teed & Brown is definitely worth it.
Teed & Brown are great to work with. They show up on time and always leave a receipt for the service that was provided that day among with sending seasonal news letters as to what to expect this season.
Terrible, absolutely terrible. My wife and I made the mistake of signing and paying 1 year in advance for a 5% discount. When activating our system, the did not do a complete job, did not test all the zones and when the system was turned on, activated zones did not engage. When asked to return to correct, they billed an extra ~$250. Also had 1 Zone where it would not disengage. The 1st 2 visits, they didn't even check the valve or the box containing valves & wiring to 1/2 the properties zones. On the 3rd visit, they finally did and replaced the valve. In so doing, they messed up wiring to other zones, which took another hour to fix. I was charged for ALL 3 visits, 2 of which included charges for both a technician and helper (hourly charges), where the helper did not do a thing. I extensively have detailed the above to T&B Irrigation and they just talk circles and literally make up other possible reasons, services provide for what was & has always been 1. Activate the system 2. One Zones valve failing. Total cost has been almost $1,000. Terrible disappointed. I would recommend avoiding.
