Marc Cowan's name is all over the reviews of The Highland Window Company. The West Hartford firm replaces windows, siding and doors, says it has been in business 20 years, and holds 5.0 stars from 136 ratings on both HomeAdvisor and Angi. Its written reviews run from 2017 to 2022, so the detailed accounts below are dated. An April 2022 reviewer, who calls Marc Cowan the owner, said he handed over addresses of past and current job sites so they could see the work before a siding job, and that Arsen did the vinyl trim on over 40 windows. In a May 2022 review, a homeowner had every window in a 1948 house and its 1960s addition replaced at once; complications came up, and Marc came by personally each time an issue arose. A July 2022 customer, told by other contractors that a siding problem needed a full vinyl siding install, said Marc repaired a few small areas instead and saved them tens of thousands of dollars. A September 2022 reviewer said Marc replaced a broken window at no cost on windows he had installed 14 years earlier. The biggest job described is a December 2018 one: 16 double-hung windows, two picture windows, a front entry door and a slider in place of a French patio door. That customer said Neil, Hilton and Tom were there nearly four days, longer than planned because of unforeseen issues. A June 2020 reviewer said the crew covered the furniture before installing windows and that Marc did not try to upsell. The company's site offers free estimates and says it is insured. Its Connecticut home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0601551, is active. The company's BBB grade is A+, and it is BBB accredited.
We have had many home renovation projects done over the past two years. Marc and his team replaced most of our windows about 6 months ago. Of all the services we had done, I would put Marc & Highland Windows at the top of the list. Great product, great value, very responsive, very professional. We shopped around plenty before deciding on Highland, and we very happy we went with them.
I can’t speak highly enough of Marc Cowan. He installed new windows for me 14 years ago. Recently one window got broken and needed to be replaced. He did replace it for me without cost. He and his crew are gentlemen. Jane O.
Mr. Cowan may be the most honest and trustworthy contractor I’ve ever worked with. After feeling bamboozled by contractor after contractor over a siding issue we were being told could only be remedied by a full vinyl siding install, Marc shot me straight and we were able to repair a few small areas to save our existing siding and saved tens of thousands of dollars. He was so knowledgeable and helpful through the whole process. I wouldn’t consider hiring anyone except him for future projects.
Marc was an excellent and very responsive communicator throughout the entire process! His pricing is fair and competitive and, as promised, there were no surprises from his end. His crew was thorough, professional and meticulous. We had all of the windows in our 1948 home (and 1960s addition) replaced at once. I get pretty anxious about having work done in our home, but Marc listened well, allayed my concerns and followed through on all of his commitments to us. Our house had some surprises and complications that arose during our window install and Marc's crew was very balanced and thorough in their response and in finding solutions. His team does beautiful work, which impressed me throughout the project. We did have a couple of issues arise and Marc addressed everything right away, even personally coming by each time to make sure everything was done to our satisfaction. We give Highland Window Co. our highest recommendation!
We interviewed several companies for our siding project and settled on Highland. The decision was easy. Marc Cowan, the owner, was professional, responsive, and very helpful in defining the project and preparing us for the work to be done. Among other things, he provided addresses for past and present job sites, so that we could see his company’s work. Once our project started, he kept in regular contact with us, answering all of our questions, addressing concerns, and checking in to make sure that we were happy with how the project was progressing. Arsen, who did the detailed work (including vinyl trim for over 40 windows), is a perfectionist. We were so impressed with the quality of his work, as well as his “can do” attitude. Overall, we couldn’t be happier with how the project came out and would whole-heartedly recommend Highland to others.
