The Swimming Pool Store's website lists pool openings and closings, inground pool restoration, and leak detection and repair, and the company says it has been in business 57 years. Its stated service area takes in towns including Burlington, Avon, Bristol, Canton, Farmington and West Hartford. A recent Google reviewer says they have been a client for six summers and calls the owner, James, a kind-hearted man. A 2023 customer said the company installed their inground pool in 1999, and that after the pump motor failed over Memorial Day weekend, James answered an email right away and had a tech at the house on Memorial Day morning. A 2023 reviewer said the crew hand-dug in the mud to find a leak under their deck so the deck would not be damaged. In 2025, a customer thanked Zack and Alva for finding a leak and fixing it fast. A 2025 customer who paid a liner deposit said the agreed June 14 installation date was a no-call, no-show, though that customer's update also listed a great finished product. A 2025 reviewer said a heater visit lasted 18 minutes, the heater was not fully fixed, and a return trip would carry another $195 service fee. A 2023 customer said a faulty pool heater bought from the company had gone nine months without being looked at, and that a line replacement they were told would take two days had run four weeks with parts thrown around the yard. A 2022 reviewer called the prices insane and the store a bit too sales oriented.
“Around $450 with The Swimming Pool Store in Burlington.”
I’ve been a client of The Swimming Pool Store for 6 summers so far. They are very helpful people and the owner, James, is a kind hearted man. When pool season hits - it’s good to go in at the beginning of the season to do a few routine water tests- helps them get to know you and helps you get to know them. If I ever had a problem, they were quick and gracious to help. As a local New England business, The Swimming Pool Store will treat you like family so it’s nice to do that in return.
We felt it necessary to leave a positive review for the Swimming Pool Store given their thoughtful, respectful, and balanced response to a recent 1 star review left by a disgruntled customer. Many others appear to have received similar reviews by this customer, which leave out critical details and paint these small businesses in a negative light, despite efforts to serve their customers effectively. Well done.
Long story short, we gave them 3k for liner deposit and had to chase them for weeks on updates for installation dates. They will say "we had shipping delays, we were busy, yada yada yada". Overall we were customers for 10 years. They no longer have our business. Update 11/17 - 2 no show no calls - Chased updates from business - Preferred email communication to hold business accountable - Great finished product • On May 29, we visited your store and selected the liner • On May 30, we signed and returned the contract. • The original installation date was set for June 3, which was missed. • We were told the install would be moved to June 7 or 9 due to weather, but no follow-up communication was received. • Your team came out to measure the pool on June 4 and told us we'd receive a call to confirm the install — that call never came. • On June 7, I called for a firm date. You said you’d call back the next morning. I made it clear I needed a commitment. We agreed to an install date for June 14. You also said someone would come that Friday the 13th to begin pumping out the pool — no one came or contacted us. • On June 14, there was a complete no-call, no-show, despite that being the agreed-upon installation date.
Big thank you to Zack and Alva from the Swimming Pool Store!! They found the leak and fixed it fast. We are grateful!
Telling everyone I know to get a pool, simply so they can do business here. Hardest working people in the business and they know exactly what they’re doing. Such a pleasure!
