Tom renovated our master bedroom suite (bathroom & closet) and a half-bath a couple of years ago. I can't recommend him enough - he is superbly talented as a carpenter - has amazing creative ideas and can work through any issue that comes up! He is calm, kind and attentive to his clients and worked really well with all the other subs on the job. We can't wait to hire him again for our next big renovation! He also builds incredible furniture - he just has a magic way with wood. A delight to work with and design ideas that are incomparable. I've had many people take pictures of the woodwork he did in our house - it's truly outstanding! I recommend him for any of your building needs!
Tom McLaughlin is truly a fine woodworker. His workmanship, his knowledge of wood and materials, and his interactions with us were all very professional and very satisfying. He kept to our schedule and our estimated costs in both projects. He designed and built beautiful bookshelves connecting a living room corner and fireplace. He also converted a closet into a small, efficient home laundry with a work table and storage shelves. As much as we love what Tom did for us, we know these projects did not give him the chance to strut his fine woodworking artistry. We recommend Tom very highly and hope to hire him again soon!
Tom truly listens. He appreciates a client's vision for the appearance of a piece and how it should fit in functionally (and/or decoratively) in its intended space. He also appreciates a client's budget goals. Furthermore, he is super talented, has an amazing eye, incredible skills, and a perfectionist mindset. He takes great pride in making his clients happy and in simultaneously producing beautiful work. He is smart; he is calm; he is creative and willing/able to think outside the box; he is accessible; and he might be the most earnest, honest professional you have ever hired.
We met Tom when he did our kitchen through a designer. Fabulous work, attention to detail, listens well and executes accordingly. We have had him back to build a custom sewing studio where he built all the cabinetry from scratch, maximized the use of space, and added custom features that make a huge usability difference. We also had him back to refinish several teak tables that all look better than new. Not only is he a top shelf carpenter, but he is also a creative designer, trustworthy, reasonably priced, and above all else he is an excellent communicator who, get this, does what he says he's going to do, when he says he is going to do it. Extremely happy to have Tom as a resource.
