In a July 2011 review, Eddie Sr. surveyed the property within a day, gave a quote on the spot, and had the job started and finished the following day. The Newton company works out of 50 Harvard Street and describes itself on Angi as having 27 years of experience, with Spanish spoken. The written history runs 2009 to 2022 and is mostly a decade old, with the detailed accounts clustered between 2009 and 2015; the two newest, both from 2022, say only "Great work!" and "Good people." What those accounts describe splits cleanly between asphalt and yard work. In a December 2014 review, a homeowner had Eddie out the same day to quote leaf removal and said he beat the weatherman at picking which day to do it; an October 2015 customer wrote that Dave called within hours of their request, explained the job step by step and handed over three references to call. Showing up on the promised day is the thing customers writing between 2009 and 2018 mention most: came when they said they would, finished when they said they would, the project completed in a timely fashion. The complaints are specific, and also old. A November 2011 customer had to call the crew back when the end of a new driveway held a huge pool of water after the first rain, and paid another $1,000 to have more asphalt poured. A November 2013 review is a half-star with the words "Poor quality," and Angi's profile counts a second half-star rating from October 2019 left without a comment. In September 2009, a customer wrote that Eddie set a paving date and then called days later to say his men did not want to do the job. One more thing to weigh: that same July 2011 reviewer said Eddie Sr. understood what needed to be done but suggested basic options rather than higher-quality products, service or design. For an asphalt driveway, a brick or paver walk, or a standing mowing and leaf-removal arrangement in Newton, this is a small, long-established crew whose older customers mostly got what they were promised on the day they were promised it. Before any paving starts, get the drainage and pitch at the bottom of the driveway settled in writing, ask for the grade of material you actually want rather than the default, and hold them to a firm start date.
