United Better Homes is a family-owned general contractor headquartered at 535 Pine Street in Central Falls, Rhode Island, with a satellite address at 447 S Main St in Attleboro. It sells and installs windows, doors, roofing, siding, solar and Mass Save weatherization, says it has been serving families across New England since 2003, and lists itself as a GAF Master Elite roofer, a Mass Save participating Home Performance Contractor and — on Houzz — Marvin's exclusive Infinity dealer for Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Its own stated service area is entirely Rhode Island towns; the Massachusetts side of its Houzz Areas Served list is the border strip — Attleboro, North Attleboro, Plainville, Rehoboth, Seekonk and Swansea. When the work goes well, customers are specific about it. A April 2026 reviewer said the crew tore off and reshingled the roof in a single day including cleanup. A November 2025 reviewer called the solar install seamless and singled out conduit routed so it is invisible from outside, saying the price beat every other quote. Another the same month was on their second solar-and-battery installation with the company. A r/RhodeIsland commenter in July 2025 said he was happy with the process and performance and that the company handled the Warwick permitting entirely. The complaints are about what happens afterwards, and they are serious. Two r/RhodeIsland commenters in July 2025 said the company 'screwed up everything that could be screwed up with our solar' and that they had 'major issues' and got a response 'only after a threat to sue'. In July 2026 a customer wrote that his solar system had failed a few months after a roof-and-solar job and that no contact method — the site, past numbers, holding on the phone — was producing any response at all. A October 2025 Google reviewer described repeated rescheduling after an inspection. On Houzz, whose four reviews all date from mid-2015, the one 1-star said the work took forever and the quality was poor. On credentials: no Massachusetts licence for this company has been verified against the state registry. Houzz prints an RI #26256 and an MA HIC#161035 against the profile and the company says on its own site that it is licensed and insured in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island — all of those are claims, not verified facts, and BuildZoom's 'Verified License' badge sits on a page that shows no licence number for this business at all. If you are hiring for a Massachusetts job, ask for the HIC registration number in writing and check it yourself with OCABR. Ask, too, what the service-and-warranty path is once the crew leaves, and get it in the contract.
“So I had UBH out for a new roof and Solar work a few month ago. Recently the solar system failed. Unfortunately I am unable to get ahold of anyone at UBH. Not contact method on their site or that worked in the past has produced a response. I have waited on hold with no answer, left voicemails, and sent e-mails. I am drafting a certified letter at this point and preparing to reach out for legal assistance on the matter.”
“United Better Homes screwed up everything that could be screwed up with our solar. Run, don't walk, away.”
“We had major issues with United Better Homes. They were absolutely terrible to deal with and only after a threat to sue did they respond.”
“I have solar through UBH. I was actually really happy with the process and performance. The only issue we ran into was Warwick being dumb with permits but they handled 100% of it.”
“Anyone worked with United Better Homes for solar installation and roof replacement?”
“I needed to get my roof done and happened to meet these guys while they were talking to my neighbor. I worked with AJ and Derek to sort out a new roof and a solar installation to take advantage of the rebates we still have going. Everything was done very quickly, the town holding up permits was the biggest wait. The roof took one day”
“We went with one company – United Better Homes– that did all three projects, which was great.”
Every step of the process of installation was messaged and professionally handled.
In regards to the roof and the roofers, I am very happy with the efficiency and effectiveness of the team. They were able to put up my roof from tear down to paper to shingles In 1 day as well as cleanup, I was impressed. I would highly recommend them to anyone The Solar Panel crew was just as effective from the time they arrived. They were able to put up the rails, The panels, the electrical system and have everything ready for the inspectors, I am pleased united better homes, professionalism and timeliness.
Great job and professional people.
Very professional, fast, and efficient installing our solar panels.
Amazing solar installer, whole process was seamless. They even routed the conduit in a way so its not even visible from outside. Best value compared to all the other businesses that gave us quotes and the timetable was also shorter too.
