Call Upwire Electric in Ipswich for anything from a flickering GFCI to a full panel swap, and the same name keeps coming up: Jim. He's the one who visits for estimates, picks up the phone, and, more than once, has driven out in the middle of a multi-day power outage to get a homeowner's generator running again. The volume is hard to ignore: 304 ratings on Google, every one of them five stars, and 227 reviews stretching back to 2017 across six different sites. The last six months alone added 31 more, and none were negative. Recent jobs read like a cross-section of modern household electrical work — a 100-to-200-amp panel upgrade paired with new outlets and a bathroom exhaust fan, EV charger installs handled from permitting through final hookup, a fire alarm swap done quickly and cheaply. One reviewer called James in to fix a switch, then had him check a garage circuit a previous electrician had wired wrong; he caught and corrected it on the same visit. Other contractors route their own clients to Upwire for install work, which says something about how the trade itself views them. Many reviewers mention calling them back for a second or third job, a pattern that runs through the whole multi-year history, not just the recent stretch. The crew has names beyond Jim's — Travis, Ben, Dan, John, Tim, Matt — plus an office coordinator, Jacklyn, who handles day-of-service reminders. That points to a small, organized shop rather than a one-truck operation, and reviewers consistently mention the crew explaining the work before doing it. Two things worth knowing before you call. This reads like a busy operation — one homeowner needing a small job waited a few days for a visit, so don't expect same-day turnaround on anything routine. And the reach extends past Ipswich: one recent review describes Upwire wiring a new home build in southern New Hampshire, so it's worth confirming they cover your specific town before booking. For a panel upgrade, an EV charger, or a generator hookup, the six-plus years of steady five-star reviews make this a reasonable call, with a real person still doing the estimates himself. For a genuine same-day emergency, ask directly about current availability rather than assuming it.

Absolutely great service and good people. Upgraded an electric panel and installed an EV charging station. I had several questions throughout the process and the Upwire crew was always responsive with answers and pleasant to work with.

Upwired upgrade my homes electrical system from 100 amp to a 200 amp system. They replaced all of the electrical outlets and also replaced the lights, installed an exhaust fan and new outlet in my bathroom. They did all of that while being prompted and professional. These guys are awesome.

Upwire is great! They've helped us several times, and once they even drove out here to help us with our generator in the middle of a multi-day power outage. Their prices are reasonable and their customer service is phenomenal. They really go the extra mile for their customers, and I highly recommend them!
