VAZ Construction & Landscape works out of Depot Street in Milford, and what it advertises pulls in two directions at once: complete lawn care, landscape design, masonry, paving, tree service, excavation, concrete flatwork and snow removal on its Angi listing, and general contracting, home remodeling, additions, basement work and accessory dwelling units on Houzz. The written accounts are old, and they tell opposite stories. Both are from February 2009 and both are about snow removal. One customer, out of the country at the time, asked by email, got a prompt reply, and had the work done without ever meeting anyone — five stars. The other had called only for an estimate, and says the company showed up and cleared the driveway anyway, then sent a bill for $5 toward a gas fee — one star. Angi's 3.0 average from two ratings is exactly that even split, and its Google page sits at 3 stars from two ratings. Angi's listing credits the company with 19 years in the trade and free estimates. For a homeowner calling about landscape work, snow contracts or a remodel, the thing to pin down first is authorization: get the estimate in writing and agree plainly that nothing gets done, and nothing gets billed, until you say go. On the construction side, ask for addresses of recent additions or basement projects you can go and look at.
