Vaz Construction Inc. runs out of 89 Howard Ave in New Bedford and is best known on the SouthCoast for exterior work — asphalt shingle roofs, vinyl siding, windows and doors — with a general contracting arm that takes on kitchens, bathrooms, additions and the occasional new house. The company describes itself as family owned and operated; BuildZoom names Michael Vaz and Paulo Vaz as owners, the BBB lists Paul Vaz as President, and the site names Paul Vaz as Owner & President with Mike Vaz as Vice President. The track record is unusually well documented for a company this size. Building-permit records show 115 permitted projects, 62 of them in the last three years, with a typical permit around $10,400 — mostly strip-and-re-roof, re-side and window jobs across Acushnet, Mattapoisett, Taunton and the Cape, plus a $345,000 new single-family house in Buzzards Bay. Their Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor registration, number 194131, is verified active on the state registry under Vaz Construction, Inc. They have been BBB Accredited since 2014 and carry an A+ grade. Customers who are happy tend to praise the same things. A November 2025 reviewer said their roof replacement was quality work, on schedule and completed on time, with the crew cleaning up the property afterwards. A July 2025 siding customer described the whole job as seamless and said extra siding pieces were delivered the same day when they called. In a February 2026 review, a homeowner walked through a kitchen job where the demolition crew cleared everything in a day covering the floors as they went, cabinets went back the next day and countertops the following week — the whole kitchen inside three weeks. The complaints are worth reading before you sign. In a December 2025 review a customer described no communication, a lack of urgency and a different person on the job week to week, including bathroom walls painted without being wiped down after sanding, which then had to be redone. A January 2024 reviewer said a subcontractor-installed HVAC unit failed 18 months after the work and nobody got back to them about who to claim the warranty from, leaving a $700 bill. And the single most recent review, from July 2026, is a one-star from someone who never received the quote they were promised despite repeated emails and calls. Worth knowing: their Angi and HomeAdvisor profiles both show a perfect 5.0, but it is the same three reviews syndicated across both platforms, so treat the 4.1 average from 72 Google ratings as the real picture. If you hire them for a straightforward roof, siding or window job, the record is strong. For a longer multi-trade renovation, pin down in writing who your single point of contact is, who is on site each day, and exactly who honours the warranty on subcontracted work.

I had someone come to my property…they were super nice, friendly but I never got my quote…after repeated emails/phone calls to them I received nothing. Not even a I’m sorry we are still working on it.
A really big shout out to VAZ CONSTRUCTION for the AMAZING JOB,everyone was very professional and clean, friendly, and did such a wonderful job. The demolition guys were great got everything out in one day with no mess they made sure to cover everything and cleaned up all of the mess afterwards, they got all the cabinets put back in the next day. Countertops went in the following week all together the whole kitchen was done in less than 3 weeks.I was so nervous with all the stories you hear about contractors who rip you off or do crappy jobs, but not Vaz they went above and beyond. Also Joe from Persison windows for the cabinets he was great to work with. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in the project 🙏 ❤️.
What started off seeming like a good company, ended up not being so good. No communication, lack of urgency, no attention to detail always a different person on the job which caused a-lot of problems. One guy would be there for three days and then someone new would show up and have no clue what the last guy did. One of the employees painted the bathroom walls without even wiping the walls down after sanding. What a mess and it had to all be redone, which I am sure would not have happened if I did not complain. At one point, I had to tell the project manager that I did not want anyone in my home until I met with him. The lack of craftsmanship, and integrity was upsetting to say the least. Who puts kitchen cabinets in before painting??? Once the job was complete, it took Vaz Construction another month to come back and finish the things that were not completed. Overall the experience was very disappointing, even more-so with the amount of money they charged us for their sub par work.
I had Vaz construction for my recent roof replacement. They did quality work, showed up when scheduled and completed the work on time. Workers were efficient, polite & courteous. They cleaned up my property when finished. I would highly recommend Vaz construction to anyone.
I had an excellent experience with Vaz Construction and couldn’t be more pleased with the results. They recently replaced a door and frame at my home, and their professionalism, attention to detail, and quality of work were outstanding from start to finish. Rubiro and helper took the time to explain the process, answered all my questions, and completed the job on time with zero hassle. The new door and frame not only look fantastic but also feel incredibly solid and secure. It’s rare to find a company that combines craftsmanship with such professionalism—Vaz Construction truly delivered on both fronts. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, high-quality construction work. I will definitely be using their services again in the future!
