Vermont Roofing Company is a Rutland roofer that says it has been in business 69 years and takes on everything from the smallest repair to the largest roofing jobs — residential and industrial, new roofs and reroofing. Its BBB profile describes Vermont Roofing Co., Inc. as an installation, repair and service roofing contractor established and incorporated in Vermont in 1957. A keenesentinel.com article lists Vermont Roofing, with locations in Rutland and Bennington, among the businesses the Melanson company operates. The company's website lists a service area that includes Rutland County, Bennington County and Berkshire County, along with towns such as Williston, Keene and Hoosick Falls. A customer said Carl was patient, took the time to answer all of their questions and explained the process clearly from the very first call. A customer who hired the company for a leaking roof said they were told the repair only required removing screws and replacing the gaskets underneath, and that the roof still leaks. That customer said they were then told they need a new membrane roof, and that the proposed solution was to return at an additional cost to replace more screws.
“Melanson has locations in Keene and Bow, and operates AC Hathorne in Williston, Vt., and Vermont Roofing, with locations in Rutland and Bennington.”
II hired this company to address a leaking roof. After inspecting it, they told me the repair only required removing screws and replacing the gaskets underneath because the gaskets had shrunk. My roof still leaks. Now I’m being told I need a new membrane roof and that sometimes they “get lucky” and fix the leak without replacing the roof. That uncertainty was not explained to me when the repair was recommended. Their proposed solution is to return—at an additional cost—and replace more screws. My question is: Why weren’t those addressed during the original visit, and why should I pay for more of the same work when the first repair did not resolve the leak? I was also told that because it is a corrugated metal roof that they can not fix anything on them except to replace screws or put a whole new roof on. DO NOT CALL THESE GUYS!
Excellent customer service from the very first call. Carl was professional, kind, patient, and took the time to answer all of my questions and explain the process clearly. Before calling this company, I had been trying to reach another roofing company and kept getting an answering service, leaving multiple messages before hearing back. The experience felt impersonal and frustrating. Working with Carl was the complete opposite. He was responsive, helpful, and made me feel like a valued customer. I appreciate the clear communication and professionalism. Based on my experience so far, I would highly recommend this company!
