Highlights
- Detail-oriented — went beyond ask, reseeded disturbed areas
- Fair, upfront pricing — praised across driveway and septic jobs
Veteran Compact Tractor Service is a small Fitchburg outfit — Jim, Dominic and Jimmy show up by name in reviews — doing the kind of grading, site-prep and small-excavation jobs a compact tractor is built for: driveway regrading, container pads, yard clearing, even patching a cracked septic tank. A recent review from June 2026 describes a shrub-removal and yard-cleanup job finished as agreed, with the crew going further than asked by seeding the disturbed areas afterward and calling out "these veterans" for the quality of the work. Earlier reviews describe similarly hands-on service: prepping a site and setting a 20-foot storage container in 2025, fixing a leaking septic tank crack at a fair price in late 2024, and, in a 2023 review, resurfacing a gravel driveway with a prompt estimate and accommodation for detailed requests. One reviewer also mentioned Jimmy stopping to help shovel snow unprompted. With a small but consistently positive review set, it's still worth getting a written estimate for larger grading or excavation jobs before starting.

Jim and Dominic did an awesome job of removing shrubs and clearing up a damaged part of the yard! They were friendly, courteous, and hard working! The job was finished as discussed, and they went above and beyond my expectations by seeding the areas they loaned for me! You can truly expect a top notch job from these veterans!! I highly recommend them to anyone looking for trusted, quality work!! Thank you both so very much!!

Jimmy came to our home, prepped a site for a 20ft Conex storage container and moved the container to its final spot. He then spread the remaining stone and was friendly and professional throughout the entire process. Will hire again, reasonable prices too!

Mr. Farrell did an outstanding job of resurfacing my gravel driveway. He provided a prompt and fair estimate. He showed up as scheduled and accommodated my detailed requests. If you’re looking for a congenial small business to do grading or excavating around your home or business, I highly recommend Veteran Compact Tractor Seevice.
