Viola Roofing & Contracting

Seventy-eight Google ratings, every one of them five stars, and the detail people keep mentioning is the yard afterward: spotless, bushes intact, no mess. Viola Roofing & Contracting is a family-owned, owner-operated Norwell company that says it has done roofing, siding, decks, gutters, chimney repair, carpentry and pressure washing across Eastern Massachusetts since 2002, and its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active. Owner Mike is the one who comes out to quote, and Brian and foreman Moses get named too. The work is mostly full roof replacements, and the accounts are specific. In March 2026 a storm-damage customer had a quote quickly and the repair done the next work day, invisible afterward. A June 2026 reviewer called four companies, then went with Viola on a neighbor's word after that neighbor had his roof, siding and windows done with no surprises. In 2023 a homeowner who had two similar roofs done the same year said Viola came in at about two-thirds the other contractor's price and did the better job; a condo association came back for gutters after its roof; a 2023 customer whose previous contractor vanished mid-siding had Viola finish it. The praise reaches beyond Google: Reddit posters in r/malden, r/QuincyMa and r/CambridgeMA between late 2023 and February 2026 described an $18,000 mansard replacement with responsive communication, a blown-off siding piece replaced within days at a reasonable price, and simply 'attention to detail'. Standing behind the work comes up on its own. An August 2025 reviewer had a complete roof done several years earlier and, on noticing a problem, found the company still willing to address it; a 2024 reviewer described the relationship starting with an emergency in December 2021 and continuing since. The one grumble in the whole run, from August 2025, is roofing nails still turning up in the driveway. OSHA's website lists an inspection of the company at a Pearl Street, Cambridge job site, with the case marked closed and no citation detail in view. The company also says it has won Angie's List Super Service Awards eight years running and is a GAF product partner with factory-certified roofers. A safe call for a South Shore or Boston-area roof replacement or storm repair; ask about the magnet sweep for nails and the warranty terms on the shingles they propose.
