On Angi, the business describes itself as Woodland Tree Care and says it has served customers in Greenwich, CT for 25 years on residential and commercial projects. A 2024 customer said they paid $3,500 up front, that repeated calls yielded nothing but stalling, and that they were considering small claims court. A 2023 customer said they paid the full price to have their trees trimmed, were told two weeks, and that the work never happened. A 2013 customer who was not home during the work said the price was fair compared with quotes from seven other companies, for extremely tall trees in a difficult-to-access spot that many other companies thought would need a crane. That 2013 customer asked to have all three trees removed and wrote that it was the company's idea to possibly save the trees "while still ensuring our safety." The same 2013 customer listed improvements they would like to see, including an accurate email address on the quote form and "being receptive to using email instead of calling me multiple times a day." A 2012 customer said the Woodland Tree Care crew arrived first thing in the morning and had 95% of the work complete by the end of the day, and that they filled small holes their truck left in the yard. That 2012 customer felt the pruning of two spruce trees close to the house and deck was rushed and incomplete. In 2012, after that customer called, David Tovar returned the call promptly and explained that further cutting would make the trees susceptible to disease, and the customer wrote that they were then satisfied. A 2013 customer said they were there very quickly and were efficient and very clean. A 2006 customer wrote that they were relatively responsive but that sometimes you had to really bug them, and called them arborists who knew what they were doing with trees. A 2005 customer said the workers were polite, cleaned up afterwards and that the pricing was competitive.
Bilked us out of 3500$ paid up front. Repeated calls yielded nothing but stalling and prevarication. Now considering small claims court.
Horrible. I paid the full price to have my trees trimmed in July 2023. I was told 2 weeks. Didn't happen. Everytime I called or texted I was told this week, this week. Never happened
I wasn't home while the work was being performed so this is based on what I saw of the results of the work. I felt that the price, compared to the other 7 companies I got quotes from, was fair, considering these were extremely tall trees that many other companies thought would require a crane in a very difficult-to-access location. I liked that they didn't try to up-sell me. In fact, I asked to have all 3 trees removed and it was their idea to possibly save the trees while still ensuring our safety. They understood, also, the different licensing and insurance that differentiates landscapers from tree service providers. The 2 improvements I would like to see in order to make the business more professional and up-to-date (from a customer service perspective) would be 1. updating business stationery with an accurate email address (I was asked to email something and the email on the business stationery/quote form was actually incorrect) and 2. being receptive to using email instead of calling me multiple times a day (and this not in reference to them needing any sort of immediate response/decision, but general information and correspondence) and stopping by my home unannounced, even during the evening.
We were very happy with their service. They were there very quickly. They were efficient and very clean.
Woodland Tree Care crew arrived first thing in the morning and reviewed the work to be done. They started promptly and I believe they only took a short break for lunch. By the end of the day, 95% of the work was complete and they began cleaning up. Their truck left some small holes in our yard and they filled them. They cleaned up 99% of the stray branches that fell during pruning, onto other trees or shrubs. (We found some in later days/weeks). At the end of the day, however, they began the trimming of the two Spruce trees that are very close our house and deck. That work was a bit haphazard, and seemed rushed. They didn't bring ladders tall enough to reach the middle and tops of the trees (which are two stories tall); one of their men actually climbed up the inside of the trees to facilitate the pruning. My recollection was, from the consultation we had with David Tovar at the time we requested the estimate, was that they would have ladders, and could also do the work by standing on our roof and deck. I felt like the pruning was quick and incomplete, as not all branches were trimmed. We called David Tovar. He returned our call promptly and explained that the pruning they did was correct, and if they did any further cutting it would make the trees susceptible to disease. We were then satisfied.
