A-1 Septic Tank Services pumps septic tanks, and its own site says it also rents roll-off containers, dumpsters and portable toilets and sinks to customers in Southern Maine and the NH Seacoast. The company says it has been in business for 25 years. In a 2023 review, a customer whose septic was backing up into the basement said A-1 was onsite within an hour in 9 degree weather, helped dig out the tank, released the clog and pumped out the tank within another hour. A 2022 customer said their tank had not been pumped since it was installed in 1986, and that the worker brought a machine called a crustbuster to break up the solids and got it flowing again the same day they called. A 2022 customer said A-1 replaced the baffle on their septic tank within a few days of the call and was the only company willing to do the work before spring. In a 2023 review, a customer said A-1 recovered a cell phone lost in their septic tank. A 2023 customer said they got a call after the job offering a 10 dollar refund because the tank was 750 gallons, not 1000. The phone line is the sore spot. A 2024 customer with a gurgling toilet said a call to the emergency number got a reply three hours later, a later emergency call was never returned, and the man who answered the office line was rude, so they canceled and called another company. A 2023 customer said A-1 was quick to come out and pump the septic, but the person on the phone was short and rude.
