A. R. Ronayne and Sons LLC

A. R. Ronayne and Sons is an Arlington family construction business that says it has been operating continuously since 1959 and serving Arlington and Boston. Its website describes a three-generation residential builder and remodeler, while BuildZoom shows 47 permitted projects spanning kitchens, bathrooms, basements, whole-home work, and additions. The customer accounts are sharply mixed. A 2022 Google reviewer, who said they had known the Ronaynes since the early 1970s, called them honest, friendly, hardworking, and passionate about their work. The BBB displays a different experience: one homeowner said a bedroom sliding door came loose from its hinge three years after installation, and that after an initial promise to return, the contractor did not come back and the homeowner hired someone else to fix it. The state registry currently marks both the home improvement contractor license and the construction supervisor license as expired, with the latter labeled “Null and Void”. BuildZoom lists a home improvement contractor license and other credentials, but those directory listings are not state verification. The BBB gives the business an A+ grade, but also displays the negative customer review. This may be worth investigating for a homeowner considering a substantial remodel, but the licensing status and the unresolved door complaint need answers before any contract is signed. Ask for current state licensing documentation, a written scope and warranty, and recent references for the exact type of project you are planning.
