Two homeowners posting on the same April day in 2025 describe the same thing: a roof replacement they had already lined up, and Chad Schuman telling them they didn't need it. One had two estimates in hand and Schuman due to give a third — he was the only one who insisted on climbing onto their double-barrel triple decker to look. "You don't need a new roof, just some repair and maintenance," he said. The other had been told by two roofers that only a complete new roof would do; Chad called that untrue and fixed the leaks for what the homeowner called a reasonable price. Schuman Construction LLC runs out of Malden and takes on roofing, gutters, siding and deck construction. Thumbtack lists it as family-owned and at 16 years in business. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #214995 under Chad Schuman, is active on the state registry, and so is construction supervisor licence CS-101583; the Better Business Bureau grades the company A+. Leaks are the bread and butter. A July 2026 customer with a leak had Chad out promptly and said he explained everything clearly; a March 2026 Thumbtack client with a leaking roof got an immediate response, a timeline and a price, and the work completed as described. In May 2026 a homeowner described an ice dam repair that turned into sealing a bay window plus interior work and painting — the crew left the house and grounds as they found them, and the family never had to move or prepare a thing. Bigger jobs land the same way: an April 2026 roof replacement where the crew showed up early, and a December 2025 siding project that "Chad, Tommy and team" finished on time and on budget. Smaller calls fill in the rest — a fallen-over exhaust pipe on a roof in April 2026, minor gutter, roof and siding repairs in October 2025, a slate roof repair in June 2025. Price lands as fair or reasonable in several 2025 reviews, and a July 2026 Thumbtack customer with a gutter problem said Chad neither oversold the work nor inflated the estimate. If you have a leak, or you want a second look before signing off on a replacement, Schuman is a sensible first call. Ask for the scope and the price in writing before the crew arrives, and settle up front what a repair covers if the leak comes back.
