ACE Solar is a North Andover solar contractor that installs and maintains residential rooftop systems alongside commercial and large-scale ground-mount work, plus battery and energy-storage systems. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, 182429, is registry-verified active, recorded to ACE RESIDENTIAL SOLAR LLC, and the Better Business Bureau accredits the business with an A+ grade. The sales and installation side is what customers praise, consistently and by name. Reviewers who shopped the market repeatedly say ACE came in competitively: one who interviewed five companies in January 2024 said it had the most competitive price and was the most responsive; a December 2021 reviewer whose 32 panels went up in 2019 called its price the most competitive; another that month called the overall cost very competitive and a good value. Several describe the opposite of a hard sell — a March 2024 reviewer who interviewed more than six installers said Ian was not pushy at all and was very technical, and a homeowner who ultimately decided against solar still said in March 2024 that ACE was by far the best to talk to. The same staff names recur across years, which is unusual: Corey, Deano, Ian, Sam, Shirley, Frank and Casey all appear in different customers' accounts between 2021 and 2024. The installs themselves land well. A December 2021 reviewer describes the crew and electricians cleaning up at the end of every day and ACE handling the permitting with the town and National Grid; a January 2022 reviewer describes the same for Eversource; a January 2024 reviewer walks through a ten-week order-to-install timeline with a four-array system up in a day and a half. The recurring complaint is what happens after the system is on. In a February 2023 review a customer describes a battery system failing within three months, failing again through further installs and still failing sixteen months later, with the company stalling; a May 2023 HomeAdvisor account describes the same sequence. A March 2022 reviewer says an inverter sat dead for about forty-five days without sending an error message and got no support. A January 2024 reviewer says calls and voicemails went unreturned and they had to walk into the North Andover office. A January 2025 reviewer praises the technicians but calls the office staff horrible over billing and unreturned calls. In a June 2025 review a 2022 rooftop customer describes storm water leaking below the panels returning three years after ACE had fixed it once. And in July 2026 a customer reports being charged $1,500 to transfer ownership of the panels when they sold their house. There is also evidence of improvement: an August 2024 reviewer with years of problems says ACE's service has greatly improved in the last couple of years and the latest failure was fixed in under three weeks. They are a strong choice for the quote-to-commissioning part of a solar project. Before signing, put the after-sales terms in writing: who owns the inverter and battery warranty claims and what the response window is, what any service or system-transfer fee costs, and what happens if a roof penetration leaks after the installation crew has gone.
