Acorn Landscaping & Masonry is a Burlington, MA outfit that reviewers know by its owner's first name — nearly every account, good or bad, is about working directly with Rick. The company describes itself as a full-service landscaping, masonry and snow-removal contractor, and the reviews back that mix: routine lawn care and cleanups alongside patio, walkway and fire-pit builds. The hardscape work is where the specifics run deepest. A 2023 review describes extending a walkway into a semicircle to add seating and a fire pit, done at what the customer called the best price they had gotten, with the crew keeping the site level and cleaning up daily. Another 2023 account details a backyard patio extension where old and new stones were blended to look intentional rather than replacing the whole surface. Several customers describe long relationships — one from 2022 says they had been a customer for almost ten years, another turned over all of their property's lawn care, hardscape, lighting and irrigation to Rick's team. That said, the record isn't uniformly smooth. A cluster of sharp complaints landed in September 2024: two reviews call the company unprofessional and say the customer wasn't put first, and a third describes fertilization treatments that didn't work as requested, with follow-up emails and texts going unanswered. An older 2021 review describes oversized equipment tearing up a small front yard, with an owner who didn't listen to the concern. And the only review posted in the last six months, from July 2026, is a one-line complaint calling the company rude and inconsiderate. The Better Business Bureau lists Acorn as a 14-year-old LLC owned by Rick Templin, rating it A+ though it isn't an accredited BBB business. For a hardscape project or a multi-year lawn contract, the specific, repeated praise for patios and walkways is the strongest signal here. Given the September 2024 cluster and the recent lull in written reviews, it's worth confirming current availability directly before committing to ongoing service.
Rude and inconsiderate
Just starting using Acorn this year. Absolutely have done a fantastic job all summer and will use it in years to follow. I discussed with the owner about just a leaf blow instead of another lawn cut and he was happy to send someone out to blow the leaves into my woods at the normal rate, which was a very lot. I happened to be home and witnessed one guy outside the next day operating both the body mounted blower and the ground operated one as well. Seeing this I was impressed and went outside with a Gatorade and a tip to show appreciation. As the conversation continues I found he was in fact the owner of the company. I will say he was a stand out individual and a pleasure to meet and takes complete pride in his work, which not many don't do nowadays. Highly recommended if you need to change your landscaping service.
I have been using acorn for some time now and always on time with quotes appointments picking up checks etc. clean neat easy to work with! very caring and understanding! That’s what I look for in a landscaper! He also did my walkway and stairs. Jack of all trades! Keep up the good work! I’d recommend him to anyone and everyone
