Verified record
Air-Tight Weatherization is an insulation and weatherization contractor at 50 Rundlett Way in Middleton, owned by James Fortin, and it works the North Shore and Merrimack Valley — permits show jobs in Middleton, Danvers, Beverly, Topsfield, West Newbury, Lowell and Westford. The same company also trades as AirTight Home Services, LLC, so both names turn up in records. The volume is the strongest thing about them. Building permit records show 902 permitted projects overall and 147 in the past three years, with a typical permit around $5,254 — a high-frequency, small-ticket insulation practice rather than an occasional side business. The sampled permits are exactly what you would expect: attic cellulose to R-38, roof venting, thermal-barrier polyiso. Customers who wrote about them liked the price and the crews. Across Angi reviews from 2018 to 2022 the recurring themes are competitive quotes and clean, punctual work: one homeowner in a 2021 review said they got several bids and this company was 'extremely competitive' and the site work was clean and fast; a 2018 reviewer described the team as efficient, tidy and polite; a 2019 reviewer said pricing was fair and the process was explained. The written record is genuinely dated, though — the newest written review on file is from September 2022. Two credential facts deserve attention before you sign. BuildZoom reports it verified a Massachusetts Construction Supervisor licence (CS-052576) as active in July 2026 and a Home Improvement Contractor registration (#165640) as active in March 2026 — those are a directory's checks, not ours, so confirm them yourself with the state. More importantly, two EPA lead-safe Renovation certifications listed for this company (NAT-42378-2 and NAT-42378-3) are shown INACTIVE and reported cancelled at one point. If your house predates 1978, lead-safe certification is a legal requirement for this kind of work, so ask for current RRP documentation specifically. The last thing to know is a status conflict. The BBB profile for this business carries an 'Out-of-Business known or suspected' alert and gives it no rating for that reason — yet its licences were verified active in mid-2026 and a customer review appeared on another platform within the last month. Confirm the company is actively trading and get the current licence, insurance and lead-safe paperwork in writing before any deposit.
“After several estimates and options, for repairs on our 22yr. old central air conditioning system, I found Air-Tight Weatherization to be the most honest with the best customer service, at thousands less.”
They did a great job with very reasonable price! Flexible on the schedule and I would definitely recommend them.
Great service!
From proposal site visit to project completion this team was top notch. They were flexible, professional and efficient I got several bids and ATW was extremely competitive. The site work was clean, efficient, and fast. Bravo!!!
This project wasn't an easy job. There were some tight areas where there weren't enough spaces. Also there were many obstacles like a heating and dryer duct and got a lot of different wires, but they did a great job on time. John Han
