The volume is enormous: close to a thousand written reviews since 2023, 191 of them in the last six months alone, and a 4.7★ Google average across 2,667 ratings. Read the good ones and a pattern repeats — a named crew, an on-time arrival, the plan explained at the door, and the floor left cleaner than they found it. A Pembroke homeowner writing in January 2026 said the house felt warmer the same day the basement was insulated; another posted a six-month follow-up in May 2026 confirming the drafts were gone. Cost is the other refrain: a Cape Cod customer in February 2025 put their share at roughly $800 against a $4,000 estimate elsewhere, and a Salem Reddit commenter in December 2025 said Mass Save covered 95% of theirs. The other half is not small, and it is not about manners. A March 2026 reviewer said the crew covered every soffit vent with insulation, and the trapped attic heat produced severe ice dams that winter. Another that same month described damage to multiple wall areas during the install. A December 2024 customer said a four-man crew tore off the ridge cap while adding a roof vent, left three open nail holes and a missing shingle, and never returned five calls. A February 2025 reviewer said a $25,000 HVAC system delivered neither heat nor air conditioning across two seasons and the calls stopped being answered. Massachusetts Reddit threads through 2025 and 2026 say the same in blunter words, including a commenter who reported water damage from a heat-pump drain that was never connected. Its Massachusetts HVAC license is active. What the two halves add up to is a company whose crews are frequently good and whose recovery, when a job goes wrong, is where people get stranded — a 2025 Watertown reviewer described an independent inspection that failed and corrective work that was never scheduled. If you are going through Mass Save and want insulation done fast and cheaply, HomeWorks is a defensible call. Get the scope in writing before the crew arrives, make sure soffit vents stay clear, take the independent post-work inspection, and settle in advance what happens if it fails — that is the point where this company's own customers say the thread goes quiet. Read the quote line by line too: two reviewers found work marked "beyond Mass Save" that the program does not pay for.
