HomeWorks Energy is one of the largest Mass Save-affiliated home performance contractors in the state, and its scale shows in both directions: thousands of Google reviews average 4.7 stars, and its Massachusetts HVAC license is verified active, but the volume also means a steady stream of serious complaints sits alongside the praise. The positive reviews are specific and plentiful. A June 2026 review described Kevin and Caesar's crew as professional and knowledgeable from the moment they arrived; another from April 2026 credited Leo and Franklin with a meticulous first-floor and basement insulation job on a 100-year-old house, careful enough with the old shingles that "you cannot even tell they were here." A March 2026 review described Omar's team catching problems the original Mass Save assessment missed and fixing them the same visit, and a January 2026 review praised Cesar Martinez's crew for a thorough two-day job with a clear walkthrough of every invoice line item. But a real pattern of property damage and follow-through problems shows up too, and it isn't old news -- several of the most serious accounts are from this year. A March 2026 review described crew damage to multiple wall areas during an insulation install; another from the same month said a crew covered soffit vents with insulation, trapping attic heat and causing ice dams and structural concerns over the following winter. A July 2026 Reddit thread included an account of water damage from an improperly connected heat-pump drain, alongside several commenters independently calling their own experiences the worst they've had with a contractor. Two 2026 reviews described the initial Mass Save assessment feeling like a high-pressure sales pitch, with inflated measurements and thousands of dollars in work quoted beyond what was actually needed. And when things go wrong, several accounts -- a failed-inspection complaint from late 2025 and a broken $25,000 HVAC system from early 2025 -- describe real trouble getting anyone to call back and fix it. Given the company's size, both the excellent, detail-oriented crews and the damage-and-non-response stories are real and current. Anyone using them through Mass Save should get everything in writing, push back on any quote that goes beyond the covered scope, and follow up in writing if anything needs to be fixed after the crew leaves.
“HomeWorks is an HPC, Home Performance Contractor. Mass Save is the umbrella program funded by the utilities with oversight from 3rd party companies. HPCs do the audits and installation and abide by Mass Save pricing. Some HPC s will be better and more competent if they pay their staff well enough, others like HomeWorks face high turnover so you may often get inexperienced auditors and installers. HomeWorks is a quantity over quality type company.”
“Couldn’t agree more re Homeworks! Worst experience I have ever had with a contractor!!”
“That's a good unit unlike the stuff Homeworks tries to sell which is absolute junk.”
“I hope so, HomeWorks was the worst company I’ve ever encountered”
“Tetra recycles old Homeworks leads that field sales couldn't close & HomeWorks is awful, the owners suck. I think they just lost a big wage and hour case”
Chris and Bobby with the North Shore branch were terrific. Thorough, professional and friendly. They were very helpful explaining the work they did thank you fellas!
Angel and Dreilin worked on four floors in my house two units and crawled in spaces I didn’t know my house had -what a great job all in three days ! Very nice and knowledgeable about what to do . Thanks guys!!!
Overall a great experience with HomeWorks Energy and Mass Save program. The initial audit by Dave at HomeWorks was great- He was thorough and professional as well as friendly. Alberto and Angel came to do the work. They were on time, worked efficiently and did an excellent job cleaning up afterwards. They were both extremely polite and professional. They were here for approximately 5 hours, and their presence did not disrupt my ability to work from home.
Kevin, Caesar, and the entire HomeWorks crew did an absolutely incredible job insulating my home. From the moment they arrived, they were professional, courteous, and clearly knowledgeable about their work. They showed up on time, explained exactly what they were going to do, answered all of my questions, and completed the job efficiently and thoroughly. When they finished, they left my home 100% clean - you would never have known they had been working there all day. The quality of their work and attention to detail exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Kevin, Caesar, and their team to anyone looking to improve the comfort and energy efficiency of their home. Outstanding experience from start to finish!
Angel and draylen from truck 24 were amazing! Showed up on time and got all the work done quickly and efficiently. Never saw this guys take a break which was crazy.
