American Carpet South is a family-owned flooring installer with a Hudson service center; the company says it has operated for over 30 years and handles carpet, hardwood, vinyl, laminate, stone and ceramic flooring for residential and commercial projects. Google shows 3.0 stars from 70 ratings. Some customers praise prompt, professional and clean carpet or rug work, while others report no-shows, rescheduling, communication problems, damage and incomplete installations. Before booking, document the installer, arrival window, preparation, cleanup, materials, measurements and damage process. ACS advertises installation within 24 hours and seven-day availability, but reviews report substantial timing and communication failures.
Stay away from ACS (American Carpet South) and be cautious using Home Depot for flooring installation. My experience was awful and cost me time, money, and huge stress. Home Depot estimated a 3–6 week turnaround, but the earliest date ACS provided was August 24, claiming they never work Saturdays. I accepted and coordinated our family vacation and professional painting around that date. Then the cancellations began: First change: ACS canceled Aug 24 citing an installer "family issue" and offered Saturday, Aug 15. I rushed my material delivery, cut into vacation time, moved the painters, and dismantled/moved all our furniture. Second cancellation: On Friday, Aug 14 at 2:30 PM (15 hours before arrival), ACS canceled again for another "family issue" and rescheduled to Saturday, Aug 22. This forced me to leave vacation early and pay extra painter fees. Third cancellation (No-show): On Saturday, Aug 22, after receiving a confirmation text for an 8 AM–12 PM window, no one showed. At 10:30 AM I called, got put on hold, and discovered a voicemail left mid-morning saying they were canceling again. They then offered August 29. My furniture has been displaced for over a week, my painting schedule was wrecked, and ACS repeatedly failed to show. Home Depot shares the blame for subcontracting such an unreliable company. Avoid ACS at all costs.
Absolutely HORRIBLE company to deal with. No communication, when you call regarding status you can't get a hold of anyone and a message that states a 5 minute wait turns into over 1/2 before giving up and hanging up. Installer arrived after 3pm for a 9am appointment. Driver called at 2:56pm said he is a mile down the road and it still took another 45 minutes to get here. I will NEVER deal with this company again, and don't recommend to anyone. As for the installation, here's to hoping that goes better. Someone from ACS better reach out to me about this. WELL, ONLY GOT WORSE FROM THE MINUTE THE INSTALLER ARRIVED. STILL FIGHTING FOR CREDITS DUE TO ME.
Guys were great didn’t take them long was on time and very professional the rug came out great
We scheduled our flooring installation with Home Depot on April 30th, and the flooring itself was delivered yesterday. Today was supposed to be installation day, but the entire experience has been incredibly disappointing and unprofessional. The installer arrived, sat in his car for roughly 30 minutes, and then left without speaking to us. Shortly afterward, we received a call from a third-party installation company informing us that we needed to reschedule and that we were expected to rip up our own carpet beforehand. None of this was communicated to us prior to installation day, nor did the installer explain anything before leaving. After spending most of our morning tearing up the carpet ourselves and trying to get answers from customer service, we were told we would receive a callback within 2–3 hours to reschedule. Five hours later, we finally heard back only to be told the earliest available installation date is June 19th — nearly an entire month away. We are now left with no carpet, no flooring installed, and no reasonable solution despite paying a significant amount of money for these services. The lack of communication, poor customer service, and complete disregard for customers’ time and homes is unacceptable. This has been an incredibly frustrating experience.
Did a decent job with my basement rug but don’t bother with any flooring installs. They installed a landing at my basement door. The floor had a ton of give and wasn’t even close to being square. Home Depot is still trying to collect money from me and the ACS is impossible to get issues resolved.
