Annisquam Landcare, Inc.

A Gloucester homeowner who is deathly allergic to poison ivy watched two bushes of it grow past three feet at the bottom of his property, right by the river. He canvassed a number of providers, he wrote in a November 2022 review, and picked Annisquam Landcare. That work still comes up: a June 2026 customer listed poison ivy removal alongside design, planting and tree maintenance among the jobs done on their property. Annisquam Landcare has worked Cape Ann since 2002 — 24 years, by the company's own count — from Eastern Avenue in Gloucester. It calls itself a full-service organic and ecological landscaping firm doing design, construction, four-season maintenance, organic lawn care and vegetation and pest management, and names Gloucester, Rockport, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Essex, Ipswich, Hamilton, Wenham and Beverly as its service area. Its Angi profile lists Certified ICPI Level 1 Installers and membership of the Ecological Landscaping Association and the Northeast Organic Farmers Association. Customers name individuals. In May 2026 a reviewer singled out Alex the owner as personable and knowledgeable, Meghan for customer service, and the crew as competent, reliable and tidy. In July 2025 another named foreman Ariel and workers Ray and Lucas, who built a water barrier for a driveway. A June 2025 customer who has used them since moving to Gloucester in 2018 described spring and fall cleanups plus a project that fixed constant water channeling which had been causing fence posts to fail. Gardens get rescued. In July 2025 a customer said Annisquam revived a garden nobody had touched in years — cleaned it up, put in new plantings and left a temporary irrigation system running for them — while also mowing a near-half-acre lawn that had become more of a paddock. In October 2025 a customer had two big jobs quoted separately so they could pick one or both; they did both, and said the workers came on time and were nice to deal with. The winter history goes back furthest. A December 2007 customer said Alex and his crew were out shovelling and plowing by 9:15pm on the night of a storm; in January 2014 a reviewer praised a smaller plow that fitted a tight driveway; a January 2015 customer wrote mid-storm that the crew had come as requested. One January 2011 reviewer gave a single star and said their calls were never returned. Across 33 reviews dated 2006 to 2026, the company holds a 5-star Google average from 21 ratings, 4.6 on Angi from 20, and an A+ letter grade from the Better Business Bureau, where it is not accredited. Annisquam is a strong call for ecological design and planting, four-season maintenance and organic lawn care on Cape Ann, and for the awkward jobs — drainage, poison ivy, an overgrown garden.
