In an April 2026 review a homeowner wrote that he quoted eight roofers, all with BBB A+ grades, and picked Apex on its CertainTeed installer status, warranty and price — then watched the crew finish three major roof sections, four small bay-window roofs and two skylights in a single day. That one-day install is what repeats across nearly 200 reviews of this Westford company: a large crew arrives early, works straight through, and leaves a magnet-swept yard behind. Apex Roofing & Restoration works out of Groton Road in Westford, has been BBB-accredited since March 2015 with an A+ grade, and its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active. Google shows 4.9 stars across 284 ratings, Porch 4.8 across 90, HomeAdvisor 4.9 across 17, and the written history runs back to 2012. Customers write about it as a family shop: John and John Jr. quoting, Karen running the office, Angel leading the crew. A homeowner in June 2026 described John Jr.'s quote visit as thorough, knowledgeable and low-pressure. A construction site supervisor of nearly 40 years wrote in November 2025 that he watched the crew strip and re-roof his own house and called them a well-oiled machine — his words carry more weight than most, since overseeing roofing crews is his job. The harder jobs are in there too. A customer in September 2025 described a complicated roof restoration rather than a routine replacement. In September 2024 a homeowner with a leaking rubber deck roof, days from her son's first birthday party, had John Jr. out the next day — then hired them for the whole roof, done in two days. A 2022 job combined a complete replacement with removal of a large dead chimney and a new flue for the gas furnace. Plywood and fascia replacement, ridge vents, gutter covers and skylights come up again and again as work folded into the same visit, with the extra cost agreed up front. Two things are worth raising on the call. In a September 2025 review a customer who was otherwise satisfied said the tarping and cleanup could have been better and that falling debris damaged some bushes, so settle what gets covered before the first shingle comes off. And a practical note from a June 2026 customer: it is loud inside the house all day, so plan to be somewhere else. If you want a full tear-off and replacement done inside a day, with the material drop, dumpster and timing spelled out in the estimate, this is that kind of company. Ask for the warranty terms in writing and confirm the schedule window — one 2026 customer's contract said six weeks and the job landed in fifteen days.
“Apex Roofing in Westford”
Great job, the roof looks great and there was very little disturbance to our property. They did an excellent job with the cleanup afterwards.
The entire experience was excellent, from the quoting, scheduling, installation, and cleanup. We were very impressed with the whole team that worked at our house very professional the entire way. To top it of the house looks great! Thanks!!
Fantastic job. It was like a work of art and I looked in amazement how professional and efficient the team was. I guess when you have done hundresds of these these, you become that way. I highly recommend them.
A Roof Replacement Experience with Apex I estimated my old asphalt shingled roof to be about 30 years old, looking a bit scruffy but it had experienced no in-house leaks or visible missing shingles. The house is 60 years old, being built before the importance of convection for roof ventilation was well understood. Naturally, I was concerned about trending attic ventilation practices and with it being time for me to get a replacement roof, I wanted to find a contractor who would bring my roof ventilation up to date as well as provide an attractive, strong, new waterproof covering. I requested a bid for replacing my roof (consisting of a single layer of shingles) with the caveat that an assessment be done for any existing decking (plywood) deterioration after the old shingle tear-off. During my Apex roofing job, after the old tear-off and Apex’s experienced structural decking assessment explanation, it was clear to me that I needed a whole roof replacement, all decking included. I learned from the assessment that although the decking had not rotted exactly, years of lack of ventilation from accumulated heat and moisture in the attic had weakened the plywood to the state that is was too soft and spongy to be strong enough to effectively support the roof. Knowing this I felt confident that the new replacement roof had to be supported with new strong material, so I ordered full decking replacement to proceed. Apex immediately was able to come up with all the needed new plywood material, on the spot, without any supply chain issues or delays. This was important for my roof job as roofing schedules are driven by weather and for my location rain was forecast close at hand. Apex Roofing was the ideal contractor to address my outdated roof ventilation situation. Apex’s collaboration relationship with roofing manufacturer Certain Teed highlights the importance of convection based roof ventilation. This manufacturer supplies quality ridge vent materials for moist air exhaust and quality vent materials for soffit fresh air intake. Furthermore, to uphold their commitment to advocating roof ventilation, Certain Teed makes it mandatory for warranty eligibility that a ridge vent be installed with their endorsed roof. The roofing crew team that Apex selected to replace my roof were nothing short of outstanding. No yelling, no drama, a very collegiate bunch. Whether their current task was work surface initialization, measuring decking for roof protrusions, bending fascia metal, or rounding up roof debris for the dumpster, they worked as experienced professionals cooperating and dedicated to excellence. Leadership of this roofing crew was masterful, handling work scope expansion (full decking replacement) and weather looming scheduling impacts with aplumb. I was further impressed with the attention to detail that the Apex roof crew displayed while providing my new roof. For example, in the contract, I had requested that an old electric exhaust fan on the roof be removed and discarded. The crew removed and disposed of it, as asked, yet went further to make sure the freed fan wires remaining in the attic were secured with wire nuts so that no future spark threat causing an attic fire might occur. Apex Roofing proved to be quite a trustworthy contractor to work with, being both comprehensive and transparent. They did everything just as was spelled out in our contract plus provided me with their workmanship warranty. I am so glad I chose Apex Roofing for a hassle-free, beautiful, quality roofing experience. With an Apex roof my house looks brand new!
The whole job from quote to repair was done without a problem. The crew showed up as promised and worked hard thru the day and was done by 3 pm. The jobsite was cleaned up after, dumpster left the next day. Yes it was noisy inside the house, so plan some time away
