Architects of Moving doesn't drive the truck — it draws the blueprint. The Swampscott company, run by owner Annmarie Linnane since she bought it (then called Women on The Move) in 2010, plans and packs a move down to the last box, then hands the actual hauling off to movers it recommends and oversees. The company says it's worked with more than 3,000 households across Greater Boston, Metro West, and the North Shore, and rebranded from Women on The Move to Architects of Moving in 2024. The recent reviews describe exactly that kind of project: a complicated cross-country move this past June that one client said went without a hitch, and a large family-home packing job described as a massive undertaking, handled with timely schedule updates from start to finish. Earlier this year, a client who'd been in the same house for 32 years said the crew packed everything, including artwork and breakables, and supplied all the materials — boxes, bubble wrap, tape — at what they called a reasonable price. A good share of the older reviews center on a specific niche: moving seniors into assisted living or independent living, including several mentions of Brooksby Village, with the team unpacking and setting up the new home — bed made, kitchen arranged, closet organized — rather than just dropping off boxes. That pattern, plus its listing as a member of the National Association of Senior Move Managers, points to downsizing and elder relocations as where this company spends most of its time. Worth knowing before you call: Architects of Moving isn't a moving company in the traditional sense. It coordinates and vouches for the movers, cleaners, and haulers who do the physical carrying, rather than running its own trucks — useful if you want one point of contact managing the whole process, less useful if you're just looking for muscle to move boxes down a driveway. The review count is also still modest: 15 Google ratings and 13 reviews altogether, all positive, with a BBB A+ rating on file since 2010 — though BBB's own records trace the business back to 1988, decades before Linnane took it over, so treat 'years in business' claims from either side with a little skepticism. For a senior move, a downsizing project, or anyone who'd rather hand off the packing and vendor logistics than do it themselves, this looks like a solid single point of contact. Ask directly which movers they'd bring in for the actual transport and what that adds to the total cost.

Architects of Moving streamlined a complicated cross country move. Annemarie is a delight to work with. Her team is highly professional, thoughtful and fun. They took what was a stressful situation and brought the heat way down. Everything was timely, smooth and went without a hitch. I’ve used other packing companies, but this one is top of the ladder! Thank you all! -Peggy, Arlington

Architects of Moving did all the packing for our move after 32 years in our home. The people they sent were kind, knowledgable, and took great care with all our things, especially artwork and breakables. Having them provide all the materials -boxes, bubble wrap, newsprint, tape, etc was an enormous help. The price was extremely reasonable given the number of people involved, and the quality of the packing and labeling.I cannot imagine how we could have done this ourselves!

We are very pleased with Architects of moving; they were extremely professional and personable. Annmarie is the owner, and she is so wonderful and compassionate. The entire staff are friendly and hardworking and are willing to go above and beyond. Annmarie was very experienced working with residents and families at Brooksby Village. She knew staff names and how to contact them, which came in handy the morning after the move to get help with disposing of stuff. She gave us contacts for what to do with antiques, having auctions, putting things in storage etc... We did a packing up, move and unpack all in one day. it was incredible. Thank you very much Annmarie and your team at Architects of moving, for such a great experience and all of your help.
