Three of the jobs customers wrote up are murals: a school's, in a 2017 Houzz review; two business spaces where, a second 2017 reviewer said, the murals Virginia DesRoches designed became the focal point; and the 753 Bar in Roslindale, thanked for in a 2018 LinkedIn post about a project from the year before. Artful Interior Finishing is an Acushnet painting contractor, and the Better Business Bureau lists it with an A+ grade and 28 years in business. A 2015 article on 8tfive.com described DesRoches as an interior artist with more than 18 years experience at that point, her work featured in hundreds of homes across New England. The written accounts are dated 2013 to 2019 — thirteen of them, and the Houzz profile averages 4.9 stars. Eight of the thirteen turn on time: custom floor-to-ceiling bookcases finished in a timely fashion in 2017, a whole-house repaint done inside the time frame the customer specified in 2013, a 2017 school project where she was, the reviewer wrote, punctual and efficient and followed through on everything she said she would do. Three brought up money — one 2017 customer said she stuck to the budget, another that spring called her fair priced, and a 2013 customer called the work reasonably priced. Not all of it is decorative. A 2013 customer who had her paint a living room and business spaces singled out her faux finishes; another 2013 customer hired her for interior painting and found the painters meticulous about both the painting and the cleanup. Four of the thirteen talk about color and design rather than brushwork: the 2019 Google reviewer called her first to discuss colors and design ideas, a 2017 customer found her suggestions for color most helpful, a 2013 customer called her accommodating with colors and design, and a 2017 customer hired her as the interior designer for a business renovation. Two things to settle before booking. The written accounts run 2013 to 2019, the newest from November 2019, so ask about current availability and turnaround rather than assuming those timelines still hold. Houzz shows six projects and services in interior artistry, interior design, wallcovering hanging and wallpaper removal — a useful list to walk through if what you want sits closer to decorating than to a coat of paint. If what you want is the decorative end of interior work — a mural, a faux finish, a color scheme you can't picture yet — this is the call, and the plain painting-and-cleanup jobs sit alongside it. Pin down scope and schedule before the first coat.
