Verified record
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from ORC Contracting. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
A day rate replaces the task list — usually the better deal once the list gets long.

Two names come up whenever ORC Contracting is recommended: Oliver and Dave. In a March 2020 r/boston thread asking for a general contractor, one homeowner linked their profile and said the pair redid parts of their basement at what they called fairly reasonable prices. Another in the same thread, who had brought in his own plumber and electrician, said the two handled the drywall, trim, stairs and framing around some ducts — "top notch work, but not the fastest." The written record is small enough to read in a minute. Four reviews since 2021, 4.8 on Angi and the same 4.8 on HomeAdvisor — which is one Angi-network listing shown on two sites rather than two verdicts. Both July 2025 reviews describe the kind of job this is: a mailbox knocked down and replaced the next day, and a through-the-wall air conditioner swapped out where the new unit didn't match the old opening, so they enlarged the wall to fit it. In a 2021 review a homeowner wrote that ORC was the only one who took the time to call back and come look at a job too small for anyone else, then did it professionally at a reasonable price. Two things to sort out before booking. Neither listing publishes a licence or registration number, so ask for one and check it yourself. And the geography doesn't line up neatly: the listings give a New Bedford address, while the recommendations that made their name came from a Boston-area thread — worth confirming they travel to your town. Their own page can't settle how long they've been at it either, claiming 28 years in one line and over 20 in another. For a punch list, a deck, a door, or a small job larger outfits won't return calls about, they're a reasonable call. Allow time, and get the scope in writing.
“Thats exactly what I did, the plumbing and electrical. They did, drywall, trim, stairs and some framing around some ducts. Top notch work, but not the fastest.”

Replaced my mailbox after it was hit and taken down completely. Came the next day. Looks great, worked fast, Great work.
They removed an old thru the wall air conditioner unit and replaced it with a brand new unit. The dimensions were not the same so they had to enlarge the wall opening. They did a great job, everything is working fine and I would highly recommend Orc Contracting for future projects.
Here was the only person to take the time to contact me and come down and look at the work. The job was small but was done professionally in a reasonable time and at a reasonable price. I highly recommend him.
Exellent!
