Ashe redesigned a hopeless scraggly run-away garden for us. She listened to our ideas and blended them successfully with hers into a beautiful, more easily maintained design. We love what she and her trusty crew do. Bees and butterflies love it too. And she’s fun to work with!
When we called Ashe Garden Design mid summer to see if they could help us unbury ourselves from the weed storm that our beautiful garden had become (both paths and beds completely overgrown!), I was saddened to hear that there was no room in the schedule for regular help. But. As the conversation continued, it became clear that we had called exactly the right team as Ashe explained that she could put us on the regular schedule next season and definitely help us retrieve the paths and beds to prepare them for the winter. Soon thereafter, Ashe and Kyle came up to see the garden and make a plan. We had been so discouraged that we no longer went to that part of our property. Fully expecting Ashe and Kyle to run away after we met because of the overgrown state of the garden, we were thrilled to hear that they would be back within the month to begin the reclamation! I was highly impressed by their gentle, caring approach with me, their obvious knowledge of horticulture and their lovely senses of humor! As they drove away, I found myself cautiously optimistic about our garden for the first time in two years rather than completely overwhelmed. Within a few days of that first meeting we received a very clear, professional and well written plan and an estimate that fit to our stated budget to recover the garden. Two weeks later the team arrived right on time and dove into the clean up with gusto. By lunchtime the skeleton of our garden was back. It’s a large garden about 7,600 square feet. The weeds were mature and tenacious. By the end of the first visit cautious optimism had become genuine hope. My partner was so thrilled that hugs were given! Two weeks later Ashe and the team returned to finish, again right on time and did exactly what they had planned to do. By the end of the visit our garden is back to a beautiful space that we sat in for an hour after they left dreaming again about the future beauty to come. What a gift Ashe Garden Design has given us! We have tried working with other less trained folks in the past, all well meaning and hard working, but none of them had the botanical knowledge nor expertise that Ashe Garden Design has, nor could provide the full support that we needed. Working with Ashe there is such a wonderful sense of camaraderie, competence, confidence, creativity, intelligence and most importantly good humor that we feel that we are in very good hands. One of my partner’s great joys is designing the garden. We had been hesitant to work with a designer because we didn’t want to be pushed into designs that we weren’t interested in. Ashe’s approach is gentle suggestion, combined with invaluable garden wisdom. She listens carefully to our ideas, considers them and finds working solutions. We are really looking forward to sitting down together with Ashe once the season has ended to plan for the future. We feel very lucky to have found Ashe Garden Design and hope that we will be working together for years to come. The entire team of Ashe, Kyle, David and Shouyo is lovely!
Ashe spent countless hours planting native wildflowers and grasses over two seasons of restoring our meadow to meet our pollinator habitat goals. The result is incredible. It’s beautiful and it attracts wildlife of all kinds.

Whether you are designing a new space or only need improvements or maintenance, Ashe will take time and care to create what you want based on your budget and goals. I highly recommend Ashe Gardens for their knowledge of native plants, and design skills, as well as the hard work of getting things done. For me, garden design is a personal and important part of my home, and I have truly enjoyed working with Ashe to make my dream of a beautiful, sustainable landscape come true.
Ashe has worked with us to design three separate and new gardens sections as well as reworking other landscaped areas. She has a beautiful sense of design and integrated our preferences of color palette and plant choices. She has an incredible worth ethic and accomplishes an amazing amount of tasks in very little time. We are going on our third season with Ashe Garden Design and highly recommend the quality and care she puts into every aspect of her work.
