Associated Refuse Haulers delivers 4 to 30 yard containers, and its own site says it has been family-owned since 1982 and delivers across Fairfield County, Lower Litchfield County and Western New Haven County, Connecticut. On its BBB page it describes itself as offering residential and commercial hauling, debris clean up and container service. A recent Google customer who has used the company on a number of occasions says a human picks up the phone, with no prompts, and calls everyone from the scheduling team through delivery, pick-up and billing professional. A 2021 customer said they had been with Associated Refuse for 12 years and praised its rates. In a 2023 Google review, a writer described calling the owner, Pat, about a truck backing up the next-door driveway around 4am every Monday. That 2023 reviewer said Pat promised to switch the pickup to later in the day, and the following Monday the truck did not come until after 8:30 am. A 2024 customer complained that the company came to pick up the dumpster at 4:50am without calling first.
“The Board of Education awarded the waste hauling contract in the district to Sandy Hook-based Associated Refuse Haulers during its special meeting on Tuesday, July 14.”
“Associated Refuse Haulers, servicing residents of Newtown, Danbury, and Bethel, along with all of Fairfield County with container work for commercial businesses, as well as construction, demolition, and bulky waste removal, has seen the way the company does business affected by the coronavirus.”
Have used these folks on a number of occasions, super cool people from the scheduling team (no prompts, a human picks up the phone), to the delivery through to pick-up and billing. Everyone is just so cool and professional. 100% recommend.
Very good company until they come to pick up the dumpster at 4:50am without calling me before. The truck it's very noise with the reverse beeping. Just be aware of the nonsense timing for pick up your dumpster.
I have to give a huge shoutout to Associated Refuse, and the owner Pat. Our neighbor has a long and narrow driveway that runs parallel to ours and continues past our house. Every Monday morning at approximately 4am, Associated Refuse would back up their driveway, lights flashing and backup warning beeping all the way up to the neighbor’s house. This would wake up my school age children hours before they had to get up for school and cause them to start the school week exhausted. We tried talking with the neighbors, explaining the situation and asking if they could bring their garbage bins to the road to avoid the garbage truck having to back up their driveway. The neighbors were unwilling to work out a solution with us, so in desperation I called Associated Refuse and spoke with the owner, Pat. Pat was extremely sympathetic to our situation and promised he would switch the pickup time to later in the day. True to his word, the following Monday the garbage truck didn’t back up the neighbors driveway until after 8:30 am. Words can’t properly convey how grateful I am that Pat would be so thoughtful and kind. To be fully transparent, we aren’t even customers. Pat truly knows what it means to be a good neighbor and give back to the community. This is a company, and an owner, with a heart.
Great company. Fantastic customer service. Highly recommend!
Been with Associated Refuse for 12 years and they have ALWAYS provided wonderful, professional service (even when I have to call for a return pickup because my hubby forgot to bring trash to the curb!). Great rates and a great company.
