The most useful line anyone has written about Beach Plum Interiors comes from a 2023 customer who said Christiana Plum "made me feel like what we have is enough." That is the through-line: this is a designer people hire to make a house work better, not to sell them a bigger one. The firm is based on Atlantic Avenue in Marblehead and describes itself as a full-service interior design practice focused on coastal New England residential and commercial interiors — everything from a single-room decor session to design and management of a whole renovation. Christiana 'Iana' Plum runs it, holds a Fine Arts degree in Interior Architecture from Syracuse, and is an ASID professional registered in Massachusetts. She is a member of the Marblehead Chamber of Commerce. The written accounts stretch back a decade and describe the same method. In April 2024 a customer praised the "Design Discovery" session and said she works within a budget. In June 2023 another described her walking the house, observing how the family actually lived in it, and producing a phased plan to make the place functional without a large renovation. A January 2023 reviewer described a living room that had been dark and unused turned into the most-used room in the house — furniture layout solved, the right sofa and mirror found, wall sconces they had never considered. Writing in November 2021, a couple who had just moved into a home needing a powder room, a small master bath and interior and exterior paint said she picked paint colours on the spot room by room, then followed with options for sinks, toilets, faucets and tile. The deepest account is the oldest. In a March 2017 Houzz review, a woman who bought a vacant 1930s bungalow in Lynn described closets designed where there were none, work alongside contractors on a bathroom that had been down to studs, and a cramped kitchen gutted and opened into the living area — all in roughly 1,000 square feet. Two things to be clear about. She is the designer, not the builder: the bathroom account has her working with the contractors, so you will still need trades for the construction. And the tenure claims differ between her own site and her Houzz profile — 25 years in one place, 30 in the other — which is her personal career either way, not the age of the firm. The right call for a North Shore homeowner who has a room that does not work and wants a plan before spending, or who wants a single person coordinating a bath or kitchen project. Ask which parts she manages and which you contract separately, and get the scope of a discovery session in writing.

Recently we had a design discovery session with owner Christiana Plum. She walked through our home and listened and observed how we are currently living in our space. She helped prioritize our needs and made thoughtful, suggestions for what we can do to transform our home from overwhelming to functional without a giant, costly, renovation. She is creative, realistic, knowledgeable, and energetic. She made me feel like what we have is enough. We now have a multi-phased plan to to maximize the spaces we do have.

I loved working with Christiana from Beach Plum! She's so creative, worked within my budget and made the process so fun! I hired her to do my living room and she created such a beautifully designed, elegant and comfortable living space - it's my favorite room. Now, I'm working with her on all the other rooms in the house. Christiana works with you to really understand your design esthetic and lifestyle to create the perfect vibe and living space. I highly recommend!!

Christiana spent a lot of time going through my home, addressing it's pain points and coming up with many creative solutions. She helped me visualize the possibilities and create a starting point for future projects. She measured and mapped out several solutions for my bathroom and kitchen. Her deliverables were on time, on budget and showed she really listened to what I needed.

Iana was able to completely transform my living room from an awkward and generally unused space into a welcoming, functional, and beautiful center of my home! She solved the furniture layout problems, helped me find just the right sofa, mirror, entertainment center, bookcases, etc, and chose wall sconces that provided the lighting options I'd never considered. The room was dark and uninviting before. Now it's cozy and the most used room in my house. Iana did all of this within my budget, and was a joy to work with. I highly recommend her services.
