Beacon Marine works the waterline: piers, docks, bulkheads, sea walls, timber staircases and pile foundations around Cape Cod, plus dredging and the seasonal float-and-pier install-and-remove cycle. The Mashpee company says it was co-founded in 2015 by Jonathan Hagenstein with Matt Bourque and Chris Hagerty, beginning with the purchase of Gillmore Marine, and that it covers Mashpee, Yarmouth, Truro, Osterville and Bourne. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, held under the company's own name. The written history is short — three reviews since 2025, and a 4.4 average across seven Google ratings — and what's there splits. In March 2026 a homeowner thanked the crew by name, Eric, Otis and Jasmine, for a new seawall, and credited Jennifer with years of dock service, repair, removal and storage. A May 2025 review came at the company from a different angle entirely: a buyer who went to Beacon for natural greenheart piling instead of CCA-treated wood, specifically because it doesn't leach chemicals into the shellfish beds around it. The one complaint on file is about the front end rather than the build. A homeowner with a small dock on a freshwater pond wrote in October 2025 that a Beacon rep came out and proposed two paths — full replacement, or a cheaper short-term fix sinking new poles — then never sent either estimate despite several attempts to follow up. One further thing to raise before you call: Violation Tracker, which republishes federal enforcement records, lists a $6,000 penalty against the company dated October 19, 2020 for a workplace safety or health violation. It is nearly six years old, and nothing more recent of that kind appears. On the other side of the ledger, a Town of Barnstable document described the businesses involved in a mooring-permit transfer as known for the quality of their work and their care for environmental considerations. The company also says its co-owner Matt Bourque holds a CDL, a 500-ton license, a National Crane Certification and a Massachusetts hoisting license — its own claim, not something confirmed against a registry here. If what you need is a pier rebuilt, a seawall set or floats pulled before the ice comes, that's the work these reviews actually describe. Ask for the estimate in writing, with a date attached, before you plan a season around it.
“Both businesses were and are known for the quality of their work and respect for environmental considerations.”
“Company: BEACON MARINE CONSTRUCTION, LLC Penalty: $6,000 Year: 2020 Date: October 19, 2020 Offense Group: safety-related offenses Primary Offense: workplace safety or health violation”
Exceptional, exceeded my expectations from start to finish Workmanship and teamwork are amazing, thank you Eric, Otis and Jasmine for our amazing seawall Thank you Jennifer for decades, 3 generations, of dock service, repair, removal and storage. You are a superstar
I have a small dock on a freshwater pond. When a Beacon rep came out to see what should be done, he suggested replacing it, but a short term fix involved sinking new poles. I told him we preferred the short-term but would like estimates for each option. They ghosted me. I suppose they thought the cheaper fix didn't interest them, but I reached out several times and got no reply at all. It is a rude way to conduct a business.
Excellent outstanding marine dock supply! Only place to buy NON polluting Natural Greenheart piling. A major plus to chemicals from CCA piles leaching into your surroundings, shellfish and ultimately you. Thanks Beacon marine.
