VSgencontractor is the outfit homeowners call when a deck or porch needs to be torn down and rebuilt right — and the reviews keep landing on the same detail: owner Victor personally walks the job before it starts. Based on Trapelo Rd in Waltham, the company works across Greater Boston on decks, porches, additions, and whole-house renovations. Its written record runs from 2013 through mid-2026 across Google, Angi, and BBB — 37 reviews, effectively all five stars, describing real, varied jobs rather than a single specialty. A 2026 review described a 125-year-old front porch rebuild that took special-ordered shingles from across the country; a 2024 review detailed a full renovation of a two-family Watertown home — electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems overhauled, two bathrooms retiled with custom glass doors, a kitchen redone with Cambria and MSI quartz countertops. Other jobs on file: a three-story deck and retaining wall in Jamaica Plain, four Velux skylights installed in a single day in Quincy, and an 1878 four-family in Waltham restored top to bottom. Responsiveness comes up often too — a 2025 review described reaching out about ten-plus poorly sealed windows late on a Friday night and having a team lead on-site the next morning, a contract signed by Monday, and work starting the day after. Several reviewers are repeat customers: one hired Victor for a sunroom and bathroom in 2022, then called him back for a basement job; a 2016 Angi review is from a customer's second project with him. BBB has accredited the company since 2014 and rates it A+. Angi's reviews average 5.0 from 10 ratings, echoing the same themes — fair pricing, punctuality, and quality work. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, running through August 2027. Nothing in the written record raises a complaint worth flagging. For a homeowner, the pattern here is a contractor who takes on the awkward jobs — an old porch, a mixed-trade renovation, a post-flood estimate that held its price to completion — and stays hands-on personally rather than handing it off.
Elmer did an excellent job from start to finish. His level of organization and attention to detail truly stand out. The entire process was smooth, on time, and very well executed. His team is highly professional, respectful, and efficient, which made everything run seamlessly. One thing I especially appreciate is that once the project is completed, he brings in a cleaning professional to make sure everything is left spotless, just as it was originally. I highly recommend him without hesitation.
When it was time to rebuild our 125-year-old front porch, we had a heck of a time finding someone who would do the work. We ended up choosing Victor and we're very glad we did. Victor is very patient, cooperative and kind. I'm kind of a lot, and he did a great job of putting up with me. We experienced a number of setbacks and delays because I insisted on very specific materials for certain things, and he was right there with me the whole way, even when we ended up special-ordering shingles from halfway across the country. Victor's team are all highly skilled and take pride in their work. They demolished the old porch, removed all debris, and built us a brand new one. They fixed the siding the old one had messed up. They replaced the gutters with new ones. They patched up the newly-exposed part of the chimney. Every last detail. I also didn't have to hassle Victor to get a permit; he just did it. Which is such a baseline expectation it shouldn't make him stand out amongst his competition. Sadly, it very much does. Whenever you take on a home remodeling project like this, you have a picture in your mind of what you want. For this project, we had really specific ideas, a mix of old and new, materials and techniques. Which is normal. And it never turns out that way. Not once in all the renovation and rebuilding projects I've done over the years. Reality just doesn't live up to imagination. So I don't know how to put this in terms that will communicate how rare and remarkable it is. Our porch is exactly right. It is exactly what we wanted, and looks exactly how we imagined it. I don't think there's any possible stronger recommendation I can give than that. We couldn't be happier. And I am pretty sure that in another 125 years, whoever is living in this house is going to say, "Well, the place is showing some real wear, but at least the front porch is still in great shape."
We worked with Victor on our basement project and appreciated his professionalism. He is a great communicator and was always very responsive whenever we had questions. He took responsibility for the process and ensured any issues were handled quickly. A very nice person to work with.
Beautiful and clean work.👌
I used VSGencontractor Inc for a complicated roof deck project in Boston. Victor, who is the owner, was very helpful in figuring out the various issues involved with the project. Without his knowledge and attention to detail things could have easily gone sideways. The work was performed on time and on budget and I was happy with the overall result. I would strongly recommend VSGencontractor based on my experience. Andrei
