Driveways are the work people hire Blacktop Asphalt Paving for. The company's website describes an asphalt paving crew that handles jobs from driveways to parking lots, and says the business has been at it 30 years. On Google it carries a 4.3-star rating from 35 ratings. A recent customer said "the guys were in and out in a day" and paved two large driveways in their subdivision, with Fred quick to respond to every message. A recent customer who called three companies said he was the only one to point out that oil deliveries could damage the driveway edges, and the only contractor to spot a rain runoff issue. A recent customer said the driveway was paved within the week of asking for a quote, all in one morning. A 2025 customer said a big semi-circle driveway was repaved in a day, with the height set so they could drive into the garage with no more bump, and that the owner was there to answer questions. A 2023 customer said Fred fixed the edge of their newly paved driveway after they drove too close to it during the winter. Scheduling and temper are where things went wrong. A recent customer said Fred quoted a seal job for July, July and half of August passed with no visit, and after a heated call he said he didn't care whether he did it and hung up. A 2023 customer said they signed a contract in April 2022, the company never showed, and they were still waiting on a $200 deposit. A 2024 customer said they were sworn at and berated when they met the company in public about paving their driveways and barn road.
WARNING: I do not recommend this company! I had Fred come in June to give me a quote for a seal. Got the quote and a hand shake and was told he would do the job in July. July came and went and half of August and I called to see where they were. WELL they were going to get to me. I said I was waiting for a tree to be cut right by the driveway and hoped that would be done by the time they were ready. I never told them not to come. After 6-7 business days I called to say come anyway don’t want to wait for the tree. “O God what is your address so I will know right where to send the guys”. So another week or so goes by and needless to say my patience are wearing thin!! I call again and am given all these excuses why they haven’t come yet. Today I call Fred himself. HE ACTUALLY ASKED ME WHY I DIDN’T CALL HIM IN JULY TO SEE WHERE HE WAS!!! So I’m supposed to chase him down when he gave me a hand shake and I never heard from him again?? I don’t think so. So after a heated discussion he said he didn’t care if he it it or not and hung up! Probably when I didn’t like his “fleecing” price and he came down to close to another quote he didn’t really want to do the job! Could have just told me and I could have moved on to find Someone else.
Really great job! The guys were in and out in a day and paved two large driveways in our subdivision. Fred was quick to respond to every message. Get on their list you won’t be disappointed
Ive lived in 3 different house over my 46 yrs on this planet. And have had driveway done on all 3. 2 in nj and this one here in Maine Blacktop is the best ive ever worked with and the best product ive ever gotten I moved to Maine in July of 2025 I call 3 Companies. He was the only one to point out that our oil deliveries could screw up our edges, and should do a 10' wide. He was the only contractor to spot and address of rain runoff issue. And blacktop wasn't the most expensive!! Fantastic Company!!! Highly recommended!!
