Boundless, Inc. sells residential solar out of 11 Apex Dr in Marlborough, and the single most important thing to understand before signing anything with them is how the work actually gets done. The Better Business Bureau lists their services as energy savings consultation, residential solar panel installation, solar energy systems, solar panel sales and solar tax credits. But customers and commenters consistently describe a dealer model: one 2026 Google reviewer called the company "a local dealer for Freedom Forever," a 2025 reviewer wrote that Chris Flecknoe set up the project and "Freedom Forever came out and did a site survey," and a Reddit commenter said in 2023 that "they're not actually a solar company. They just sell contracts for freedom forever and sunrun." The praise is real and it is specific — but it is overwhelmingly about the sales and design stage. Reviewers name their reps by name and describe long, patient presentations: Jeremy Goddard returning a call promptly for a Marlborough-based project in 2025, Connor Kearn and Nick giving what one customer called an excellent presentation, Lexi and Sara walking a homeowner through lease, PPA and purchase options over two months in late 2024, and Matt Bice assembling a project in 2024 that included a specific battery the customer wanted. Google shows a 4.7 average across 469 ratings and the file runs to 404 reviews from 2021 to 2026. What happens after the contract is where the record turns. The last six months carry five reviews, three of them negative. In May 2026 a customer wrote that after Freedom Forever filed for Chapter 11 in April, their project was abandoned and they were left paying a loan for a system that does not function, with the regional sales manager unreachable. In April 2026 another described a sales process that went smoothly until installation, and a third came home to find two large converter boxes installed on a wall they had not expected. In February 2026 a customer said they were told confidently that solar would essentially eliminate their electric bill and are now paying more. A January 2026 reviewer put it bluntly: "They are sales people." The Better Business Bureau grades the company F. Two separate accounts describe unpaid vendors — a 2025 customer said the company agreed to pay for tree removal and then stopped responding to them and to the tree company, and a New Jersey office provider left a 2026 review about unpaid invoices and blocked emails. On Reddit, a person identifying themselves as a former Boundless door-knocker described being sent to Maine in 2023 to tell homeowners about a "cost free" program without being briefed on how it worked, and a Washington DC resident said in 2024 that the company told a neighbor they had signed up when they had not. If you talk to Boundless, get in writing who installs the system, who warranties it, what happens if the installer fails, and the actual projected bill with real numbers. A Gloucester homeowner asking about them on Reddit in February 2026 said they had spoken with Boundless but were "not trusting of door knockers" — that instinct is the right one to bring to the meeting.
“I spoke with Boundless Inc. but I am not trusting of door knockers so it'd be super helpful if I could hear some local experiences with solar panels.”
“We actually went with Boundless a few months ago and had a really good experience. The team was super responsive, explained everything clearly, and the install process went pretty smoothly.”
“Don’t do it! Boundless salesmen are about exactly that…sales! Lies, deceit and deception, anything for a sale.”
“The one I talked to from Boundless was pretty legit and said will price match so I am shopping around still.”
“I recently had someone from a company here in Massachusetts called Boundless Solar come by and talk with us.”
“I went with Boundless Energy.”
Made multiple attempts to collect outstanding invoices on services rendered from Office Evolution in Clark, NJ and all attempts ignored. Went as far as blocking our emails and not accepting certified letters. Not a trustworthy group. If they can't pay their invoices to a small business owner, how can anyone trust them? Be careful and be aware doing business with this company.
Boundless, Inc., a local dealer for Freedom Forever (FF), left me stranded after FF filed for Chapter 11 in April. The regional sales manager, Bobby Braun, vanished, ignoring my messages. My solar project is now abandoned, and I am stuck paying a loan for a system that doesn't function. This experience has left me with a strong sense that the solar industry is riddled with scams and fraud, exploiting people's desire to go green.
I’m sharing my experience so other homeowners know what to expect when working with Boundless Energy as a solar sales/dealer partner. The sales process initially went smoothly, and communication was responsive while the system was being sold. However, once the installation was scheduled, communication from the Boundless side essentially stopped. During installation, there were material changes to the system design, including panel substitutions and layout adjustments that resulted in lower modeled annual production compared to what was originally proposed. At that point, I expected the dealer/sales team to step in, explain the changes, and help coordinate a resolution. Unfortunately, that did not happen. Despite multiple issues arising during and after installation, there was no proactive follow-up, no ownership of the situation, and no support in addressing discrepancies between what was sold and what was ultimately installed. I was left to deal directly with the installer and customer support on my own. A solar purchase is a long-term investment, and when changes happen, clear communication and accountability are critical. In my experience, Boundless Energy did not provide that support after the sale was completed. I would strongly encourage future customers to ensure they understand who will be responsible for communication and issue resolution after the contract is signed.
We went solar last year and couldn’t be happier!
Overall, my biggest concern with going solar was aesthetics, potential damage, and making sure the installation was done cleanly and professionally. After the first day of installation, I pulled into my driveway and was surprised to see two large converter boxes installed on the front of my home. It was a major eyesore and not something I had expected. I immediately reached out to find a solution. To their credit, the technicians were excellent—very understanding and accommodating. They explained they were simply following the original plans. After reviewing options together, we agreed that relocating the equipment inside my garage was the best solution. The end result was extremely clean, and I couldn’t be happier with their workmanship. I also had them adjust a few conduits to keep things out of the way for future finishing, which they handled without issue. The install team was professional throughout, and I have no complaints about their work. My main issue is with the sales side of the experience, specifically my rep, Steven Dyment. During the sales process, he was responsive and helpful, but I would have appreciated a much clearer and more thorough explanation of what equipment would be installed and where it would be placed. That lack of upfront communication led to unnecessary frustration. Post-install, communication has been a challenge. I experienced a few equipment issues (now resolved), as well as some roof damage. Unfortunately, most of my calls have gone to voicemail without response, and many of my texts required follow-ups to get a reply. As someone who works in sales, I understand things get busy—but ignoring clients is not acceptable. I’ve owned my home for 10 years, and it was new construction when I purchased it. I’ve never had issues with the roof. After the install, I had ridge caps blow off during heavy winds—specifically in areas where safety harnesses had been anchored. These were repaired once but have since failed again in the same spots. When I reached out about this, I initially received no response. After following up a week later, I was told a service ticket had been submitted. It has now been over a week since then, and I still have not been contacted to schedule repairs.
