Burdey's Remodeling and Construction LLC is a Salem, Massachusetts remodeling company run by owner Chris Burden, working across the North Shore — Salem, Peabody, Beverly, Marblehead, Swampscott and Nahant among the towns it lists. The work is broad residential remodeling: kitchens, bathrooms, basements, additions, decks, siding, windows and doors, and finish carpentry. BuildZoom lists a Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor licence, number 197666, issued in January 2026, which it says it verified as active in June 2026, alongside a construction-supervisor licence it has not verified. The permitted work is real and local. BuildZoom counts seven permitted projects with a typical permit around $22,700, spread across Salem, Beverly, Danvers, Middleton, Manchester and South Hamilton. Five customers have written about hiring them, between 2021 and 2024, and the accounts are consistent. The most detailed came in November 2024, from a homeowner whose condo renovation had already been abandoned by two other contractors, setting the project back months; they describe Chris taking on the whole job with a phased approach from planning through completion, and choosing subcontractors who were capable in their own trades. In June 2024 a customer had a small outdoor shed remodelled in a single day and called the work on-time and professional. A September 2023 reviewer whose kitchen remodel the team managed called them trustworthy and honest and singled out design touches — a countertop pass-through window and a matching sill — that brought continuity to the space. A separate 2023 account on BuildZoom described rates as fair and competitive and the communication throughout as clear. Two things are worth knowing before you call. Houzz currently shows the profile as suspended, pending reactivation by the owner, so its listing may not reflect what the business is doing now. And the written accounts stop in November 2024 — real, but no longer fresh — so ask for references from the last year and addresses of jobs you can go and see. This is a reasonable fit for a whole-room or whole-home remodel on the North Shore where you want one contractor coordinating trades, and particularly for a job another contractor has walked away from. Confirm the Home Improvement Contractor registration and construction-supervisor licence directly with the state before signing.
Meeting Chris of Burdey’s Remodeling and Construction LLC and discussing plans for a condo renovation couldn’t have come at a better at time. For I had two separate contractors that had both back out of the project, setting me back months. Chris assured me that the project I had in mind was not too big of an undertaking for him. His methodological approach to each phase of the renovation from planning through completion proved that I had made a great choice. Every room would undergo a transformation from cookie cutter contractor grade construction to a home with a very specific and curated aesthetic. It was a collaboration of my vision and design and Chris’s abilities to make it happen. Even when issues arose during the process, alternative methods were explored to achieve the original concept. Chris’s choice of subcontractors ensured that each discipline was reliable and capable to execute their specific tasks.
Chris recently remodeled a small outdoor shed for us. He did this in one day, and we were extremely happy with the results. Chris was on time and very professional. We will definitely be using his services again in the future and highly recommend him.
I found Chris and his team to be trustworthy and honest people to manage my kitchen remodel. They provided some nice design features with my countertop pass-through window and the window sill to bring continuity and flow to the space. I appreciate all of the work they did.
