Burr Roofing, Siding, & Windows is a Stratford exterior contractor. A 2025 Reddit commenter in r/StamfordCT wrote that they used Burr out of Stratford for windows and siding replacement. The company says it has been in business 57 years. A 2025 Google customer with a 50-year-old house on Candlewood Lake described a renovation with Burr that included all new windows, siding, eaves and soffits, gutters and a front entry door, and said it finished ahead of schedule. A 2025 reviewer whose roof was hit by a fallen tree said they ended up with a new roof, two new skylights, a new flat roof, gutters with leaf guards and five Marvin windows. When a gutter later overflowed, that 2025 reviewer said Burr promised to be there at 7:00 am the next day, and Nick showed up at 7 and removed the debris blocking the drain. A 2024 customer said Burr cut back the roof line, built a custom portico with a bluestone landing and installed Hardie siding. A 2025 customer said a new roof was installed in one day. A recent customer who hired Burr for a roof and gutters described unreturned messages, scheduling delays, a leak from ice dams shortly after the install and non-weatherproof nails that rusted and stained the new shingles; that customer said the owner eventually worked with them to resolve the issues. A recent reviewer who asked about James Hardie siding on a 1600 sq ft house said the quote took about a month and came in between $85,000 and $95,000, which the reviewer called extremely high. A 2026 customer said a window installation ran from October until January, that trim was installed cracked and with large gaps, and that debris was left in the garden beds and lawn. A 2025 customer said Steven, whom they met through an appointment Burr arranged, suggested using another company he is affiliated with, and urged others to confirm which company will actually handle the project. Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0519740, as active, held by Burr Roofing Siding & Windows Inc.
“We used Burr Roofing Siding and Windows out of Stratford to do windows and siding replacement.”
I reached out to James Hardie and they sent me up with Burr which was the local company that installed their products. The appointment was easy to schedule. When the Rep arrive, he said first I didn’t think your house was that big. I was kind of thrown off because it’s only about 1600 ft.² and the first part of the house is a cape which is two floors. My husband has his own company and does construction, so I am aware of the business side and sales side. So I explain the project said we could rip off the siding and I knew it. It’s only one siding since I lived here my entire life, and took over the house for family. I told him that I had the PVC for the windows, but said to include just in case, so I knew the total overall of tearing off the old siding and replacing with new siding and framing windows out with new trim. I let him measure, and then he was off. I waited a week. I waited another week. Another week. It was about a month and I had a call to get a quote. In the contracting world, that means that they just don’t want to do the job. Then I received the quote within an hour or so, which I appreciate all the back knowledge of the company and process of the job from start to finish. I wasn’t expecting 45 pages. Let alone we really threw me off with that you’re telling me my 1600 square-foot house was gonna cost between 95,000 and $85,000. Again, when I received the quote it was clear they didn’t want the job. I had the call to get the quote and then quote price was EXTREMELY HIGH.I know that James Hardie products are expensive, But if I price out myself with even removal off the old siding and all the extras. It doesn’t come near to that price? Don’t assume people can’t pay or you just waste my time and give a ridiculous quote. Appreciate the information but have moved in another direction.
We chose this company based on their strong reviews, but our experience was unfortunately defined by significant communication gaps and technical oversights. We chose Burr to replace our roof and install gutters. While the team eventually addressed our concerns, the process was frustrating: • We dealt with multiple unreturned messages, missed follow-ups, and scheduling delays that spanned weeks, some of which were never resolved. • Shortly after our new roof was installed, we experienced a leak as a result of ice dams • We had to point out several "flaws in craftsmanship," including the use of non-weatherproof nails that rusted and stained our new shingles shortly after installation. To their credit, the owner eventually worked with us to resolve the issues. However, the level of constant follow-up required to ensure the job was done correctly was disappointing given the company's reputation. We had plans to work with them again on several exterior projects and window replacement but based on the poor customer experience and questionable craftsmanship, we will look elsewhere.
Woody the technician was amazing!! Extremely, knowledgeable, friendly, provided me with a thurow free consulation. He took the time to educate the happenings regarding the main swerer line and repairs needed. Great job!!
Burr provides excellent project management and service! We’re super pleased with the way they have keep us informed every step of the way in our extensive roof renovation and window replacement. The whole team is really committed to getting the job even in the toughest snow and weather this winter.
We hired Burr because of the good work they have done for us in the past, however the installation of new windows, lasting from October until January before everything was completed, was a huge disappointment. The installers arrived before the windows or the PM and did not know the details of the job, asking me where the windows were and when they would arrive. I had to direct them and explain to them the details of the bay window replacement, until eventually the PM showed up hours later. The trim for multiple windows was installed with poor quality, cracked and with large gaps – see photos – and after we pointed this out, the PM just “fixed” it by covering the errors in caulk. We had to go back and forth multiple times to have them installed correctly. They neglected to keep track of a change order and tried to charge us hundred of dollars for work that was not done. Our property was never cleaned up properly, leaving large scraps over 6 inches long, even after multiple complaints and attempts to get them to clean everything. If it can’t be done with a leaf blower and a half-filled bottle of water, you will end up cleaning up debris yourself for months. They didn't lay down tarps or anything to collect the debris, which were (and still are) in all our garden beds and lawn. Also, even though I asked the PM to check that everything had arrived on the first day, and he told me everything was fine, when the screen installers showed up, they found that two screens were missing and one was damaged. It took months before the replacements were delivered and installed. Overall, for one of the more expensive options, we definitely did not get our money’s worth. I don't think it is reasonable to have to devote hours of my time to a project I paid someone else over $20k to do for me. If you hire Burr, be prepared to act as your own project manager and devote hours to inspecting their work and arranging multiple follow-up visits to address all of their mistakes.
