Capone Landscape is a Wakefield landscaping company at 189 Nahant Street, run by Frank Capone Jr. By its own account it is a third-generation family business: grandfather Ambrose Capone, who came from Italy in 1918 at sixteen, started it in Wakefield in 1946 with a push mower, hand clippers, a rake and a barrel; Frank Sr. took over in 1968; Frank Jr. has run it since 2001 and says the company now services more than 400 properties. The work is full-service grounds maintenance for homes and commercial properties — weekly lawn service, spring and fall clean-ups, re-mulching shrub and tree beds, fertilization and aeration, shrub trimming and tree pruning, annual flower planting, hydroseeding, organic mosquito and tick control, and dumpster rental. It holds an A+ grade with the Better Business Bureau, though it is not BBB accredited, and is listed as a Wakefield Chamber of Commerce member. Ratings run 4.3 out of five across eight, but the written accounts are more mixed, and two of the three point at the same thing: shrub and hedge work slipping behind the mowing. A customer writing in 2021 said Capone had cut his grandparents' lawn for many years and did a decent job except for the hedges — a second summer running where the grass got mowed but overgrown hedges right at the front of the property went untouched, prompting calls. In June this year another homeowner, who came to the company because it already services several neighbours' yards, gave two stars after asking in the fall for a couple of hedges trimmed and waiting several weeks to get on the schedule, though he allowed that the weather had been bad. A May 2026 reviewer takes the other side flatly: outstanding service every visit, highly recommended. The read that fits all of it: the recurring lawn route is the strength, and one-off or secondary tasks — hedges, shrub trimming — are where the schedule stretches. If you want reliable weekly mowing and seasonal clean-ups in Wakefield, this is a long-established local outfit with deep roots in the town. If hedge and shrub trimming matters to you, pin it down before you sign: put the trimming on a named schedule with dates rather than a rotation, agree what happens if a visit is missed, and confirm it is priced into the contract rather than treated as an extra.
