Finnegan & Sons is Chris Finnegan's Reading-based handyman operation, and after nearly five years and 38 Google reviews the throughline is breadth — gutters, fences, siding, a backyard gazebo, a mouse infestation, even a stuck garbage disposal and a broken scooter. For a punch list of unrelated small jobs, this is built to be the one call that handles all of them. The amount of detail in the reviews is unusual for a handyman: people describe him explaining his plan before starting, flagging extra problems he finds rather than just doing the extra work and billing for it, and showing up the next day for urgent requests. Recent reviews keep the same pattern — a May 2026 review describes chimney flashing repair and moss removal finished within days of the first call, and a February 2026 review describes him repairing a customer's snow thrower on the spot after selling them a used snowblower. Further back, reviews from 2021 through 2025 describe fence rebuilds and custom gates, whole-house painting, a gazebo assembly, pest extermination that avoided toxic materials around a pet, and gutter cleaning one customer called the best they'd had. Two reviews break the pattern: a 2024 review describes a missed appointment with no call to explain it, and a 2022 review calls the owner rude and unprofessional, dismissing him as a jack-of-all-trades. A later reviewer speculated that one of the negative reviews might have come from a competitor rather than a customer — worth flagging, though nothing here confirms it either way. Given how many different trades show up across the reviews — fencing, siding, painting, pest control, masonry, waterproofing — it's worth being specific about what a given job actually requires, since coverage in the reviews is much deeper for some of those than others. He's a strong fit for a homeowner with a list of smaller, varied repairs who'd rather make one call than five — just confirm scheduling in writing given the one reported no-show.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Finnegan & Sons Home Improvement & Handy Man Services. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
A day rate replaces the task list — usually the better deal once the list gets long.

I have had Chris do a few projects, he does great work, I would highly recommend him
Chris immediately responded to my call, understood what I needed and didn’t try to sell me on more than that. He quickly came out to give me an estimate and the job was done a couple of days later. The flashing on my chimneys needed repair and I had some moss on the roof. He sealed the areas around the chimneys and washed all the moss off. Chris was very honest and knowledgeable about the project, I would call him again for future jobs. He even sprayed for mold in my attic!
Finnegan & Sons Purchased a secondhand snowblower off Chris. He was willing to deliver the machine and let me check it out prior to purchase. While there Chris also was also able to repair my other snow thrower which just broke a belt. Nice to know there are still honest mechanics out there Both machine machines worked perfectly Through both back to back storms of 2026! Thank you, Chris you saved my back!
We hired Chris after we bought a new building for our business. He cleaned the Gutters(best we have ever had, they are actually clean and work properly), Installed a Security Camera System for us, and Installed 4 exterior flood lights. He was very professional, and dependable, The work was done properly and quick, and communication was very easy, he was always responsive. Highly Recommend!
Chris fixed my sink valve and installed a new faucet. Job was done on a Saturday which was very convenient.
