Cardenas Hardwood Floors is a New Bedford outfit run by Alejandro (with Mauricio and, more recently, Caitlin also named in reviews), and its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active and verified with the state. The thing that stands out across more than thirty reviews spanning 2022 to mid-2026 isn't just that the work gets praised -- it's how often customers describe the same specific things: matched wood, careful demolition, and floors that end up looking original to houses built well over a century ago. That specificity shows up again and again. In a 2024 review, a homeowner described a 100-year-old bungalow where the original hardwood had been hidden under carpet for 15 years; Alejandro pulled matching pine boards from the property's own barn to repair the main house. A more recent review described identifying that an existing home's floors were a blend of red and white oak so a newly installed room would read as original, and another recent review, about a house built in 1907, described patching and filling gaps in the original floor seamlessly. Communication comes up almost as often as craftsmanship, with reviews from throughout the record describing daily check-ins, shared progress photos, and prompt replies to calls, texts and emails. In a 2025 write-up, one reviewer specifically noted the crew covers and protects belongings and hauls out all the trash when a job wraps. Another 2025 review said the company had done work across four separate homes for the reviewer, their family, and a friend. The scope goes beyond refinishing: reviews describe new hardwood and LVP installs, laminate kitchen and bathroom flooring, and finish carpentry -- stair treads and a bullnose installed on a stairwell for a new-construction project, in a December 2022 review. For hardwood work in the New Bedford area -- refinishing an old floor, matching a historic house, or building out something new -- the specificity and consistency in this record stands out.
