A new fridge that would not fit under its cabinet, three other carpenters who ghosted them, and a cabinetry business quoting $6,000 to replace the whole fridge cabinet area: that is how one customer came to Carpentry by Casey. Rather than having new doors made, Casey modified the existing ones, using a heat gun to separate the door pieces, making precise cuts and reattaching them, then matching the paint and raising the inner shelf. The customer said "you can't even tell that we had anything done to the cabinet." In the same house, Casey replaced swaying, splintery basement stairs, matching the stain to a sample of the main-floor hardwood, and walled off a couple of small basement areas to create a separate room, with a solid-wood door in each area. That customer described the new stairs as sturdy and completely silent. In a living room, Casey took on an off-center TV cubby beside a pocket door: he removed the existing trim and shelving and redesigned the space with drawings and measurements, which the customer approved. He drywalled the upper portion, extended the opening to floor level, matched the trim and wall paint, and gave the new cabinet a coordinating mantle, two shelves, an outlet and cord pass-through channels, with a faux door on the left side for symmetry without compromising the pocket door behind it. That customer said he came out, offered a few different ideas and gave a quote they called very reasonable, showed up when he said he would and cleaned up after himself, and has since completed 3 large and 2 small jobs for the family. For one customer, Casey replaced a basement window in concrete and installed an interior door between the bulkhead and the basement. That customer said the response came within 24 hours of first reaching out, the critter issues they had before stopped after the work, and Casey followed up afterward. Casey painted two bedrooms and a bathroom, made three tiered hanging shelves and installed chair rails for one customer.

This review will detail more than one job in our home; Google doesn't allow for separate reviews, so we are detailing them all here. When we bought our house a year ago, we discovered that our new fridge, which did not have options for height-adjustments, would not fit under the above-fridge cabinet in our new kitchen. We thought it would be a fairly easy job for a carpenter to fix, but we quickly learned that it was not so easy after all. Three other carpenters ghosted us entirely, one of whom just told us it would be cheaper to buy another new fridge. Then we decided to call a cabinetry business and they said the only way to fix this was to replace the entire fridge cabinet area, which would cost $6,000! Ridiculous! Thankfully, we saw someone else post about Casey and saw from his Facebook page that he has redone kitchen cabinets before. So we gave him a call and he came out exactly when he said he would. He then explained that this sort of job is more complicated than it appears: the doors needed about 3 inches of height removed and the internal shelf would have to be separated from the housing and then reattached at a higher position. The doors had a trim with a unique design that would be hard to replicate, so the actual doors had to be modified rather than simply having new doors made. But Casey knew what to do in order to ensure that the doors still looked like they matched the rest of the kitchen. He had to use a heat gun to separate the individual door pieces from each other, make very precise cuts, and then reattach all the pieces. Then there was the paint matching and raising the inner shelf, reattaching the hardware and hanging the doors back up. But Casey was up for the challenge and now you can't even tell that we had anything done to the cabinet! Our fridge fits and the kitchen looks like nothing ever happened at all. Honestly, the photos are kind of boring because the doors look like they're supposed to. But don't be fooled, a lot went into them! Casey also replaced our rickety, slightly swaying, so loud they could wake the dead, splintery basement stairs with gorgeous stairs that match the other staircase in our house. He matched the stain to a sample of the hardwood on the main floor (which is why the stairs don't match the basement floor all that well). These stairs are beautiful, solid and sturdy, and completely silent! They are wonderful to walk on and they look amazing! Additionally, while doing the basement stairs, he was able to wall off a couple small areas in the basement to create a separate room and he put a door in each area. The doors are sturdy, solid wood (which matches the doors throughout the house) and they are hung perfectly level. It was awesome to have Casey do the walls and doors as well because then we didn't have to coordinate with another person and also because we trust Casey in our home and we know he does exceptional work. He is our go-to carpenter for all jobs, big and small! Seriously, if you are in need of a carpenter, look no further! Casey is your guy!!!!
We bought our house a year ago and had lots of projects to work on. Initially, we called 3 independent carpenters who either never returned our call after the initial discussion or set up a time and then ghosted us. Then I saw someone else post about Casey. We called him and he came out and took a look, offered a few different ideas for the jobs we had, and then gave us a very reasonable quote. He showed up when he said he would, he worked hard, stayed out of the way (as much as is possible while working in our home), cleaned up after himself, was very friendly with our kids, and was professional while also being personable. Since that initial phone call, Casey has completed 3 large and 2 small jobs for our family and after the first job, we knew he would be our carpenter for life! Pictured here, you'll see a space in our living room where the old, small tv went along with an odd, offset, built-in cubby space. To the left of this space, there is a pocket door so nothing can be punched through the wall there. Because of the pocket door, the whole space looks off, because it literally is off-center and it was a real eye-sore. Casey removed the existing trim and shelving, redesigned the entire space (complete with drawings and measurements), which we approved, and then got to work! He drywalled the upper portion, extended the opening to floor level, matched the trim and wall paint, and even gave the new cabinet a coordinating mantle that looks fantastic next to our fireplace mantle. Inside the cabinet are two shelves, as we desired, along with an electrical outlet and cord pass-through channels in the back of the shelves so we don't see the cords. And you might be wondering how this off-center space suddenly has a perfectly centered cabinet that looks like it's been there all along: the left side is a faux door, giving it the appearance of symmetry without compromising the pocket door behind it. Brilliant!!! No more eye-sore! Seriously, Casey is not only good at carpentry, but he's also a true artist who cares very much about his work. He is diligent, careful, and trustworthy. If you have an idea but don't know how to make it work or need help making your vision come to fruition, call Casey!
Casey has done several projects for me including painting two bedrooms and one bathroom, making three tiered hanging shelves, and installing chair rails. He is professional, polite, talented, and truly excels with his carpentry trades and custom cabinetry.
My whole experience with Carpentry by Casey was so polished from the very start! The response time from initial outreach to follow up was within 24 hours. We discussed plans and what timelines, costs, expectations and etc looked like and it was very competitive. Casey replaced a basement window in concrete and also installed an interior basement door between bulk head and basement and everything was so tight and professional. I had critters issues prior and since then, the work he did eliminated the issue. The cleanup and professionalism was top notch and what really stood out was the follow up. I’ve had many contractors come to the house for projects and never follow up on how the work is holding up, asking if there’s any tweaks that need to be done etc. carpentry by Casey does it right the first time and if not, he follow up. I’ve used him for other home projects as well but would highly recommend.
