Casella Waste Systems is a large, publicly traded waste hauler, and this Hooksett-area profile carries the history of two different companies. Until September 2023, it operated as the independently owned Pinard Waste Systems; Casella bought Pinard that year, and a number of reviewers say the switch is exactly when service started to slip. The Pinard-era reviews, mostly from 2021 through 2023, describe a small, responsive local hauler: staff members named by name (Bob and Jeff in sales, Tony Belanger, Rocco) who handled emergency same-day dumpster deliveries, replaced a windshield cracked by a flying rock within a day, and worked around narrow dead-end streets and awkward driveways without complaint. That's a real, established track record — it just describes a company that, under this name, no longer exists in that form. Since the acquisition, the pattern in reviews has largely reversed. Reviews from 2024 into 2026 repeatedly describe missed trash, recycling, or dumpster pickups — sometimes for a week or more before anyone responds — along with long hold times and calls that go unanswered; a July 2026 review says nobody picks up the phone and blames understaffing for missed pickups directly, and a May 2026 review describes being on hold for 50 minutes. In late 2025, one reviewer described a company truck tearing down cable wires with no follow-up repair, and another described a card on file expiring without notice, resulting in a missed pickup. The three reviews from the last six months are all negative. There are still individual bright spots: a February 2026 review credited a rep named Steff with actually resolving a recurring problem, and two mid-2025 reviews described drivers going out of their way around road closures and a blocked driveway — but in the recent record, those are the exception, not the rule. Two more serious claims appear but aren't independently verified here: a Reddit post from mid-2026 alleges Casella charges an illegal 3% fee for debit-card payments, and a single review from 2023 claimed recyclables were being burned instead of recycled. Neither is confirmed, but both are worth asking about directly. For anyone in a Casella or former-Pinard service area with limited alternatives, the honest picture is a company whose customer-service capacity — not the trash pickup itself — is the recurring complaint right now; budget extra time for phone support and keep records of any missed pickups.

“Casella Waste Systems is going to charge a 3% to pay for service using a credit or debit card. If you are a customer start reporting this and complaining to them now. It is **NOT legal** to add a fee for using a debit card to make payments. You may have seen that u/Vermont-DMV is now collecting a fee for using debit cards. As shitty as that is, they are apparently allowed to do so due to exceptions in the law allowing “government services” to do this. Full email from them below. **Dear Valued Customer,** At Casella, our top priority is providing you with reliable service you can count on”
The worst customer service, nobody answers the phones and they just randomly don't pick up trash due to insufficient staffing.
On hold for 50 min and counting there's ZERO reason to be on hold that long to get your dumpster empty all while they keep saying in the recording how great there customer service is. Not a happy customer. Once they finally answered 54 mins in atleast the lady on the phone was very nice and apologetic. Once the wait times get better( I usually wait 30 mins) id give a better review.
Our local company was taken over by Casella and the service has been nothing but terrible. Smaller, dirty bins, they leave them in the middle of the driveway so you can’t drive in when you get home, they won’t take neatly stacked and collapsed cardboard and want you to shove everything in the bins to fit so it’s more work, trash they miss they leave everywhere so it looks like hell, I could go on. Canceled our service and have gone back to another local company and the difference has been night and day.
I cannot say enough great things about the customer service rep who has been helping me - Steff. I have worked with several of Casella's customer service reps and Steff is the only one who was actually able to help me and continues to follow-up to make sure my issues have been resolved. The transition to Casella has been rocky to say the least but Steff has gone above and beyond to help and I appreciate her so much!
Truck 31695 ripped my cable wires down today 12/2/2025 and they did NOTHING about it. Will be talking to the City of Manchester NH TOMORROW that I don’t want them to pick up my recycle again. PS the driver said it happens all the time and that his company will fix it.
